Tennessee @ Mississippi State (October 13, 2012)

I can't believe you haven't been slammed for this.

The place is old, but it's been getting renovated/modernized for the past few years.
What makes you think it's a dump?

It simply looks like an erector set. It looks better than it used to, but it could still use some TLC. And because of the team's performance, the energy has been sucked out of the place. It's just not a very attractive structure.

It's not the worst, by any means. But it's still in the bottom half of the SEC for me.

I agree regarding the team's performance, but that has nothing to do with the stadium's quality.

Which 6 of the 12 teams already in the league do you have no trouble saying have better stadiums?
I think your opinion is being formed by UT being down as a program and the fact that you're a Bama fan.

I'm not going to argue that Neyland is hands-down the undisputed king. But, I think a reasonable argument can only be made for a few other stadiums in the league.

Someone must not have had Jimmy John's for lunch today.

My Jimmy Johns posts get moved to the Zone.

I had a tuna slim with double meat today. Quite tasty, but I'm disappointed in their decision to quit punching my frequent eater card :'(

I would rate Neyland ahead of Bryant-Denney anyday. There's nothing special that stands out about a game there. It's a nice stadium, but it lacks a uniqueness that most college stadiums have. The structure and enviroment feels like an NFL game. Which you guys basically have an NFL team suiting up, so that kind of makes sense.

I'm sure that's part of it.

I'd go:
1. Bryant-Denny Stadium
2. Tiger Stadium
3. Sanford Stadium
4. Williams-Brice Stadium (really nice place hurt by the fact that it's off-campus)
5. Reynolds Razorback Stadium
6. Jordan Hare Stadium
7. Vaught-Hemingway Stadium
8. Neyland Stadium (erector set)
9. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (erector set would have been an improvement)
10. Kentucky Commonwealth Stadium (feels like a big high school stadium)
11. Davis Wade Stadium (might as well be a high school stadium)
12. Vanderbilt Stadium (high schools would be embarrassed by this stadium)

Haven't been to either Missouri or Texas A&M, but I imagine Kyle Field might jump into my top 5 after I visit in 2013.

Watch one game from a BD skybox or one of the "zones" and you'll change your tune in a heartbeat.

That will never happen. I'll have to settle for the upper level corner seats they give to UT.

If only the fans that are sitting in the luxury areas of the stadium are getting a top-notch experience, then that is a problem don't you think?

I know many opposing fans who love coming to BD, so I don't think the luxury sections are the only way to go. But what BD provides in facilities and technology is unmatched in the SEC.

I'd enjoy Neyland more if the seats weren't so freaking small. If you need tubs of butter to get your fans into the bleachers, you need to space the numbers out.

I'm not saying it's a terrible experience, but I would rate Vaught Hemmingway, Sanford, and BH Griffin ahead of BD. There's just nothing that really stands out about a gameday in Tuscaloosa to me, other than the cemetery right next to the stadium.

I wouldn't argue with Sanford. It's a great place to watch a game.

I could not disagree more about BHG. That place looks like it was designed by a drunken chimp, the facade is as ugly as can be, and the sightlines suck in certain spots.

wth do y'all like so much about Vaught-Hemmingway?

Uniqueness of the campus and stadium along with the hospitality of the fans.

This. Plus there's lots of hot ladies in sundresses.

I've been to both stadiums enough times to confidently state that every ugly chick in the state of Mississippi attends/has attended/will attend MSU.

Oh ok. I figured it had more to do with the campus or girls than the actual stadium.

I have never been to Tuscaloosa or Fayetteville.
I have been to the other five in your Top 7. A reasonable person can make a case for LSU, UGA, and Auburn, as they are all very nice. At some point, any list is highly subjective. But, no way in heck should South Carolina and Ole Miss be rated higher than Neyland. They're not junk, by any means, but there's no comparison between them and Neyland (or Auburn, who you rated 6th). Other than The Grove, which is not part of the stadium, Ole Miss' stadium is very ordinary (and small). Carolina's size is nice, compared to most stadiums, but you said it yourself when you pointed out where it's located. Tailgating at South Carolina is as plain and ordinary as it gets, because of where it is.

I think we can agree that there are A LOT of really nice stadiums in this conference. And, I appreciate your fandom, which is obvious by where you rated Bama, Tennessee, Auburn, and Florida.

My own list would be:

1. Neyland
2. Tiger
3. Jordan-Hare
4. Sanford
5. Ben Hill Griffin
6. Vaught-Hemingway
7. Williams-Brice
8. Commonwealth
9. Vanderbilt
N/A. Alabama, Arkansas, and Miss. State

Neyland's size, history, location, atmosphere (until we start losing badly), and GameDay traditions cannot be matched. It's tough to beat the location of UGA's stadium as well, but I thought Auburn's was especially nice once I was inside it. I'm not putting Florida any lower than where I did. If Williams-Brice was on campus, I would have put it above Ole Miss without question. Commonwealth is a lot better than Vaught-Hemingway once you get to your seat (except for the BBQ Nachos from Corky's at Ole Miss). Inside the stadium, from your seat, I would move USC and UK up one and drop Ole Miss two places, but if you consider the atmosphere created by the fans and the traditions surrounding the stadium, UK falls to where I put them.

I won't evaluate places I haven't been to.
