I find it embarrassing for UT to delay these two games. Just take your lumps! Our schedule is too demanding. BS. You signed the contract, play the games. I know all about the tough SEC schedule in Oct, blah, blah.

To bad we don't have Dooley for that game. His bamboo would be full bloom by then.

I think the uncertainty regarding the future of the SEC schedule going forward may be most to blame for this. Everybody knows they're eventually going to nine games, they just won't give a timeframe. Once they do, there will be years where we play 5 conference games. If that happened in a year with a road game at Nebraska and the VT game in Bristol, that leaves with a season where we only have 5 home games, and from a financial standpoint, I doubt anybody in the AD wants that. The money from Bruton Smith was probably too tempting to turn down, so that left the Nebraska game as the only thing left we could cut.

Well now we've got to schedule someone OOC for 2017 through 2020 before USC in 2021 and 2022.

I would like to see them get a Miami or FL State. Both have openings and it would help Butch get into the Florida recruiting market a bit more.

Someone like Baylor or Texas Tech would be nice, too.

Baylor's 3 OOC games are full from 2017 through 2020.

I'd personally rather the team not end up having to go to Texas Tech.

Miami and FSU are fine. Baylor and Texas Tech are teams that are beneath UT playing a home and home with. If they want to schedule a game here in Knoxville, great, but we have no business giving teams like that a return game at their place.

Do you mean in terms of what types of football programs we play, or stadium capacity? I don't disagree, but it would be an upgrade from playing at UCONN and at Memphis. I don't think we're in a position to be high-minded about where we travel to right now. I'd rather play the biggest programs for sure, but those teams are nothing to scoff at. We can't schedule an Oregon or Ohio State every year.
