How often is "exactly" misspelled? :birgits_giggle: :w00t:

Since we're attacking spelling, you think that I can talk you into spelling "lose" correctly? It's just one O, not two.

It's one thing to cross up or drop a letter due to poor tying skills. It's another to spell a word that barely phonetically resembles your intended word. Also, that was not an attack. It was a request. Please read my post and get your facts straight before you start in on me. Maybe I should say, go ahead and get your shots in now because next year I'll be cheering for a Vol team led by a real coach and you Fulmerites will have transferred your fan loyalty to Winchster Middle School in an effort to remain loyal to your leader.

More foolish remarks.

I knew when I coined the phrase "Fulmerites" I should have gotten copyright protection. I would love to be receiving royalties everytime Hillbilly drops it on an opponent in a verbal sparring match.

Personally, I think there is probably enough genetic variance between a Fulmerite and a fully functioning, cogent human being that you could probably get a patent on them.

Ok, since we're "requesting" better spelling then. If you'd like, I could dig up the 75+ posts where you have typed "loose". I would hardly call that crossing up or dropping a letter as if it were a mistake only once in a while...

From a Fulmerite..

IMO if he can't attach his name to the quote it bares no weight. :dunno:

My exact thoughts ! However, he must fear something if he's scared to mention his name.

Getting back to the thread subject eh? Do we know for a fact that this was said by a head coach? Maybe Sanders said it off the record. :dunno:

Nah that's ok. You know you do it, so there's no reason to make a huge deal out of it.

As for which coach made that comment, my money is on Richt.

"Shine is off the apple?" That sounds like something Spurrier or Houston Nutt would say.

Yeah, several people have said that but why would Richt say something like that now? He can just let his 1v1 record speak for itself. How about Shula playing to the crowd down there?

I don't know, but he's the first coach that came to my mind. Could have been Shula I guess, but like he has room to talk.

Yeah, kind of like a coach who attempts to act as an anonymous informant for the NCAA.

Best reply ever ... and I like Fulmer!

And let's not get into calling other coaches cowards.

hatvol's statement above is enough, but can I remind everyone of a skipped SEC convention?

On Defense, I'd say that is NOT the case. But offense over the past few seasons has been very predictable. When predictable, why should anyone be afraid?

Do we have to go through this all over again?? Why is the offense always being blamed for how the team did in the last 5-6 years?? With the exception of last year, Our offense has been efficient, and our defense has been more than suspect. True, our offense is predictable at times, but isn't every football team in America's offense predictable when they are facing a 3rd and 15???

If I remember correctly, 3rd and 15 was a common situation for the Vols last year.

The problems with the offense last year was obviously at QB. Before last year the offense was adequate but not stellar. Since 2001 I think the defense has been a better unit, especially the defensive line. Just look at what players on what side of the ball are getting drafted by the NFL. I dont think the offense has had a player go first round for 4 years.

Maybe the biggest problem, but not the only problem.

My guess is this quote came from the Athlon preseason mag, which quotes various coaches in their previews, but never gives a name.

gonygonygo,

The offense has been blamed because it's come up short more often than the defense has, particularly in games where it's supposed to really turn it on. If the defense allows 17 against Florda, 6 against Alabama, 16 against South Carolina, and 28 against Vanderbilt then those should all be victories instead of losses. Had that been the case, 2005 would have been a 9-2 season instead of 5-6. The defense last year allowed 205 points against, which is the lowest since 1999 (and trails that team and the 98 team by 11 and 16 points, respectively).

I'm not going to say that the defense is stellar; any offensive coordinator going into a game against a Chavis-led defense knows that draws, counters, and counter treys are absolute gold. Look at what Florida did in the first half of 2004 (running the misdirections) versus the second half (when they didn't), or the SEC title game in 2001 when it was nothing but draw-draw-draw.

As I mentioned here and elsewhere, how predictable the offensive playcalling is really doesn't matter; the trick is being able to run those few predictable plays better than the defense can prevent them from being run. I refer again to Nebraska of the 1990s, with a playbook that was primarily four plays 75% of the time.

Donte Stallworth was a 1st rounder in the last 4 years.
