Tennessee passes heartbeat bill, bans abortions for babies with Down syndrome

How does someone accidentally fertilize an egg?

OK, here is my blue font.

If she's had a penis penetrate her within the last 6 weeks, then there is a decent chance that she should know. How hard is it for a single woman not to know that?

Umm it’s always someone else’s fault.....catch up. They continually point to the rape/incest abortions that account for less than 1% of all abortions. Of the total African American pregnancies, 29% ended in abortion which is 3x the rate of white pregnancies. Black Lives Matter

Actually, it’s nobody’s business except that woman. What she wants to do with her body is her choice. In no way, shape or form should anyone who has nothing to do with the situation have any saying on it whatsoever.

1) Because a female menstrual cycle can vary in time between cycles by days or even a week+.
2) Not every female that is pregnant has an immediate cessation of her cycle
3) Some women are so sporadic in cycles that their normal may include skipping monthly cycles altogether

Just make all birth control and the morning after pill very low cost or free and easily accessible to all females upon request and you’ll eliminate a large majority of abortions well before reaching that six week mark.

I actually thought that all happened during the Obama administration.

Prices are all over the place for the Plan B pill. Two brands are available for free but the recommendation is taking it within 12 hours although they do provide for a few additional days leeway. Plan B pills are also not 100% effective as some women still become pregnant afterwards.

Actual birth control, such as the pill, shot or IUD again range widely in price and again are not 100% effective. Obamacare addressed no copay for those with insurance, but no insurance and you don’t qualify for state medical assistance, get ready to be out of pocket. Monthly pills average around $50 per month. The Depo shot, averages a cost of $150. Fork over around $1300 for an IUD.

Abortion should never ever be used as a substitute for birth control, but let’s get the costs of trying to avoid a pregnancy on the front end into a financial range accessible to all women.

The man has no say in it? The baby/non-human mass of cells/embryo? I know that mantra has been chanted for decades. It doesn’t make it anymore true

You are so woke. I felt like that was word for word from the mouth of Nancy Pelosi

That's an odd comparison. Looks like a stretch made in order to argue something which isn't applicable, and doesn't belong in this discussion.

"There is no point in passing legislation which won't hold up under scrutiny in court." CHECK

"Such an obvious waste of time (CHECK) can only be explained as political pandering (CHECK) and posturing (CHECK) during an election year." CHECK

The human body is a fascinating and mysterious thing. Suppose you have a woman that gets pregnant, takes the morning after pill and repeats that multiple times in her life. At some point, would the body become trained to abort/miscarry? What kind of future difficulties will that woman have later in life if she does want to have children?

Is this a real concern or am I just pulling this out of my arse?

Am I to believe that most single women that have had a sexual encounter are not the least bit curious or concerned about possibly being pregnant within a 6 week period? Are you telling me most single women in that situation don't have that thought somewhere in the back of their minds?

Not sure why someone would bring a baby with down syndrome into this world..

And at some point Right Wingers have to let this abortion debate go because it does nothing but make you look like fools. Abortions should be your best friends. Most people getting abortions are left wing. More abortions, less natural selection refugees. Dont like abortion? Don't get one. BOOM!! Problem solved.

Keep your laws off our bodies! (Umm....except when the public health department decides what is best for everyone). But other than that, keep your laws off our bodies. Lol

We need to sterilize everyone at birth and then let them buy back reproductive capacity if they prove themselves responsible. It would pretty much end the need for abortions, control the population, and solve a lot of social issues within a generation or two.

That’s actually not how the pill works (from my limited understanding). It will not end a pregnancy or cause a miscarriage. Instead it pumps in a slew of hormones which prevents the female from ever becoming pregnant (similar to birth control, I guess this is just all at once). That’s why it is recommended immediately afterwards.

I’m pro-life and nothing is going to change my mind on the issue. I used to be against any taxpayer funding for contraceptives and associated medical screening but now support it only because it has the possibility of significantly reducing the number of fatherless children. IMO contraceptives, screening, and tubal ligation should be free to all women who can’t afford it as well as free prophylactics and vasectomies for men who can’t afford it. There is a large population in this country that don’t and never will exercise any personal responsibility so maybe we ought to give them every opportunity to reduce the number of fatherless children. On the other hand, I don’t see much effort to take advantage of the current low cost/free services to prevent unwanted pregnancies since the government incentivizes fatherless children.

There is a part of the disability advocacy community that believes the worst thing we could ever do for their loved ones is to stop having disabled babies because the pool of disabled people would shrink to the point that people would just stop GAF about trying to accommodate the ones who are left and they'd all wind up institutionalized until they die off. I think these sorts of bans are a by-product of anti-abortion people looking for any ally they can find intersecting with an at-risk community.
