Tennessee Slowly Becoming The New Clemson

Not yet, but Clemson has benefited from Tennessee’s missteps over the last 10 plus years.
In 2008 Fulmer and Bowden both left their programs.
Clemson hired interim coach Dabo Swinney while Tennessee is on their 5th coach.
Back in 2008 no one considered Clemson to be on the level of Tennessee.
Our misfortunes helped build their dynasty.
A lot of Tennessee’s best recruits went on to play for the orange and purple instead of The Big Orange.
It’s time to right the ship.
CJH has the Vols heading in the right direction while Clemson is unranked for the first time since 2014.
Very interesting…good theory and analysis. Looking back, you’re exactly right.

Trevor Lawrence, Tee Higgins and Etienne were all Vol fans growing up and wanted to be Vols. The fact that our program hit rock bottom during their prime recruiting years helped Clemson. I don't disagree with this.

The real question is how long they stick with DJU.

Certainly they have to have another 5* QB sitting around somewhere at this point.

DJU can function when the rest of the team is solid and all he has to do is keep the wheels on. As we have seen this year, when he has to be the playmaker, Clemson is in trouble.

Let's set things straight, Clemson became the new Tennessee. If we get it together AND keep it together, Clemson suffers, trust me.

Exactly. It’s Tennessee and it’s the SEC. Win, win. And it makes a big difference to probably a majority of recruits.

A couple of good 1st quarters and already comparing UT to Clemson. Yikes.
Agreed. We score some points vs the bottom of the East and we are on our way back ??? Long way to go, enjoy the ride.

JRich - great profile pic.

The “new Clemson “?
Drinking and posting is not a good idea.

To be fair, Clemson has only been a juggernaut recently. However, this year the college football world seems to be righting itself. Having watched a few games this year, I think Clemson is on the decline. Even Bama doesn't seem as imposing as it once was and OU has escaped a few games where they didn't deserve the win. I think this year is gonna be a mess for the CFB playoff committee. there will be at least one team getting in because of the name.

Our main primary areas of recruiting should focus on these areas:
metro Nashville
metro Atlanta
the Carolinas
Memphis
Orlando/central Florida
Why can't we think bigger, we now have Texas A&M and soon Texas in the league.

Our luck with Texas recruits hasn’t been good when they got to campus.
but I’m not opposed to getting a few from there especially if it’s somebody that both Texas and TAMU also wanted.

I appreciate the optimism, but let's slow down a little bit lol. They have won two national championships in the past 5 years. While they are struggling this year, I do not think they are entering the decline we have been enduring. I do think Clemson is a great example of how QB play can impact a program. This is the first year in a long time they do not have an ace taking the snaps (Boyd, Watson, Lawrence, etc.).
Well we had JG for several years - so we had an ace taking snaps for us.

We have already traded spots with Clemson at qb - that Clemson cat's passing efficiency rating is 80th or 90th in the country, as we know HH is 5th in the country.

Can you please make Bama the old Tennessee (of the past 10 or 12 years) instead of Clemson?

Heupel has to prove he can recruit at a elite SEC level right now we are what 10th in the SEC currently? I’m sure that is gonna change though.

It’s funny how Clemson is having a very 2005 Tennessee like season
