Tennessee Softball 2023

Several posters have pointed out (rightly so) that we "only" have to win six of the last nine games to be regular season SEC champs. It would be our second regular season championship and first since 2007.

I for one will not feel safe until I see Karen, Kikki and Ashley holding that trophy. Perhaps, my concern is unfounded but our last opportunity to hoist a trophy for a conference championship was 2015 (I think).

Not to dredge up unpleasant memories (especially for old timers) but to remind all our fans that winning in the SEC is very difficult.

In the 2015 SEC tournament championship game, Tennessee was playing Auburn. Tennessee was trying to become the first SEC team to win four games in route to a championship. We led 5 to 3 going into the bottom of the seventh. With the score 5 to 4, and two outs, and an Auburn player in scoring position, the Auburn batter hit a pop fly into short left-center. Our freshman left fielder camped under the easy out. I jumped up and down with excitement. The ball was in the glove. Then it mysteriously was on the ground. All American Rainey Gaffin (14-3) took the loss in the ninth inning losing 6-5 giving Auburn their first tournament title.

There were so many great players on that team that deserved a ring.

Let's sweep Florida this weekend and leave no room for error.

Said player acted like she didn’t even care. Played her whole career that way. Was a pet and had a little speed but never did anything of note.

Wow, really? I always saw her being fired up for her teammates and saw her make several diving plays when she played CF.

Hey Majors it seems if we are in full pursuit of Linton:

No doubt, the kid can play. It’ll be interesting to see who else gets in the race, Arkansas will be there. Tennessee is on the ‘25 class for the state which is good. The catcher they are on from Farragut is next level.

Be nice to have a non converted catcher even though G has done a good job.

What year is she? I never could find Lintons size but i see she is a lefty. We need one badly. I see she has moved around some and do you think we have a very good chance with her.
2025 for both. Linton is 5’6 maybe 5’7, muscular build. She’s a LHP, good velocity, some movement but internet numbers don’t match on field production. She has over the years done a great job of networking and building her brand. On her travel teams she’s the #3 pitcher behind Heavener (LSU) and Parrish (UNC). That team also happens to be one of the best teams in the country in Unity Johnson/Ross. Depending on who you talk to she’s not the best LHP in the area and could be #3 in the area behind Danley (FSU 2023) and Plumlee (2025). Tennessee should have interest in her but I do wonder how it progresses the more they see her. She’s a take but to me she has too many questions that need to be addressed before she hits college.
