Tennessee Softball 2023

Pretty harsh, especially for a kid who was overlooked until Washington and FSU came calling in her recruitment. Like most kids who leave for various reasons , she had to leave for her the person as her and Karen weren’t a good dynamic.
Yep she wanted to do her own thing but while she was doing Karens way she was pretty successful .
No different than little ship to me. Cant hurt the feeling of the ruined little gals. I really am not a Karen fan at all even now.

OUR FORMER LV PITCHER TRAITER CAYLAN ARNOLD HAS FOUND HER WAY BACK TO KVILLE AND IS THE ANALYST FOR TODAYS BASEBALL GAME !!!! PISS ON HER !

Don’t be silly. They go where they can to get what they want/need I suppose. Guess we should scratch Puni and Donahoo from the roster, considering they would be labeled as traitors by definition.

Since the SEC tournament starts this week, I thought it would be interesting to look at Tennessee's statistics in SEC contests only.

The overall SEC league batting average is 248. Tennessee's batting average is 246. We are 7th in a league of 13 (six teams ahead of us and six below us). With four SEC series left, we sat at an average of 215. Although, it may not have felt like it we have improved by 30 points over the last few weeks. Yes, we need to keep improving but we are not struggling as much as I thought.

We have two players in the top 11 in batting average. McKenna Gibson at 359, and Kiki at 352. You can add Zaida Puni when you look at on-base-pertage. Giving Tenessee three players in the top 13. We are the only program with three players represented.

Kiki leads the league ( SEC only) in Home runs at 10.

We lead the league in walks and hit by pitches. Making our on-base-percentage 378 which is second in the league.

I also was surprised by individual batting averages for SEC attempts only.
M. Donihoo 137; G. Koutsoyanopolus 190; Katie Taylor 205; J. Brockenbrough 224; R. West 243; L. Beautae 266; Zaida Puni 299; K. Malloy 352; M. Gibson 359.

Our fielding percentage is 967. The league average is 969. Again we are sitting on the league average. In other words, all of my concerns about fielding are not validated.

Our pitching is off the charts and I will post about that as well. However, our fielding and hitting is average (or above) in the best softball conference in the country.

She got perterved when she went from main cog in wheel back a step when Ashley came in as a freshman !

She played in a WCWS her last year with FSU. That wasn’t happening here!
Honestly if she stayed they would’ve had a better year than this year and would definitely went to the WCWS with Tennessee and would’ve been a big part of it. Ashley was hurt last year and they had their chances and fell short because of not having another pitcher the last 2 seasons.

An interesting statistic in the league (SEC only) is G. Koutsoyanopolus (our catcher) leads the league in putout chances (185) and putouts (171). Of course this is a reflection of catching the third strike of an out. It's also a reflection of the dominance of our pitching staff in number of strikeouts recorded:
Ashley Rogers is 5th, Karlyn Pickens is 6th and Payton Gottshall is 12th. There are 51 SEC pitchers who have enought inning to be in the database.

The league ERA (SEC only) is 3.51. Tennessee's staff ERA is 1.88.
AR's ERA is .89 which is 1st in SEC.
KP's ERA is 2.35 which is 9th in the SEC.
PG's ERA is 3.10 which is 18th in the SEC.
There are 51 pitchers who met criteria to be in the database.
Note: N. Simpson has pitched 4 innings in SEC play and not given up and earned run.

Separation in league play comes from only giving up 98 hits ( ranked first) in 24 games in SEC play. Tennessee also only allowed 56 runs to score and only 44 earned runs. Both rank first in the SEC.

AR is ranked 1st; PG is ranked 9th; KP is ranked 10th in SEC in opposition batting average.

These pitching numbers coupled with the fact Tennessee ranks first in the SEC in runs scored (131) and runs batted in (117) and you see why we won the SEC regular season championship.
