Tennessee Softball 2023

I wish Lair well if she moves on. Unfortunately for her it seemed her spot in the lineup had been taken. Destiny looked better filling in tbh but I’m guessing Donihoo will be at second next season.

Pannell could be playing it if Faw works out. Or vice versa. Or Dez could be there, of course. Players like Donihoo, GK and Brockenbrough were only starting this year out of necessity. Next year they need to earn it (as does everyone). If they can't hit they don't need to be starting.

If Pannell had been healthy, I don't think you would have seen Lair come back from the early season leg injury. Her spot was in the outfield and she all but refused to play outfield. That's why I was pounding that drum last offseason. I thought she would come around to playing out there at this level and she wouldn't do it.

When she declined to play OF, her days were numbered because they had the infield of the future planned out for the next 3-4 years.
Agree…It was somewhat known she’s wasn’t on board with Donihoo coming in to play SS and being switched to OF. Her mom was very vocal with a few coaches I know out that way stating she was portal bound after last fall.

Completely valid points.

However, I think the staff’s handling of Pickens in this game was consistent with how they handled her down the stretch. I think they have been protecting her psyche for the future. And that continued in the OU game.

My biggest disappointment is that we didn’t give our best game to OU. After watching through last night, I am convinced that we were the best team to match up with them because we had hitting and pitching. Still a tall order, but we should not have been blown out like that.

The pitching decision had the biggest impact on all of that. Not a fireable offense IMO, but clearly worthy of discussion.
No one gave their best game to OU.

Per Karen Weekly's twitter, she is recruiting at the Texas State Softball Championship in Plano this weekend and not at the big travel ball tournament at Newberry, Fl.

Must be hoping for new players there rather dealing with travel ball stuff. May mean she has transfer portal good news!

I don't think Hoo has the arm or the athleticism to turn the 6-4-3 dp anywhere close to what is needed. Am I wrong about that? I just watched the post season, so....

19 players remaining. 3 freshman coming in, the question is how many transfers we get
If we had the two girls from Liberty who we must like to bring them in for texas series them one more stud starter hitter . I know nothing about the Liberty girls but their coach is a renowned player/coach who is very thick with Ralph and KAREN!

mY THOUGHT IS SOMEONE FROM GRAY TENN
Could be both. Mesusan has a chance to see the field, not sure Sarvis has a spot where you can say she’s got a chance to play anytime soon. Kirkpatrick will be recruited over and where does Keene fit in? Big bat, maybe the plan is for her to DH and play 1B in two years and move Gibson back to 3B after Puni graduates.

Yes even though Mesusan did run the bases but like everyone else pinch running she proved she will not get to play much if any!
