Tennessee Softball 2023

The consensus on twitter is that it’s Payton Monticelli from Wisconsin. She posted on instagram that she was visiting OU yesterday. Also what pitchers do we have in 2024?
I would be surprise just because she didn’t pitch for Wisconsin. Don’t know how you’d get better just wearing that Oklahoma jersey versus Wisconsin jersey. This portal has got me so confused where a kid wasn’t good enough to go to that school in the recruiting process but they can play at another school and not play and then all sudden the schools that didn’t want that player decides to pick them up.

If that’s true, that’s real good for Tennessee. That means the Liberty and Stanford pitcher both are still in play.

That’s good for us, I could see Vawter going to Missouri just because it’s closer to home. I’m just hoping we pick up A pitcher this off-season. I wouldn’t prefer to put a lot of innings on KP & PG during conference and I hope White & Orsini, if she decides to stay, make good enough improvements to be able to handle midweeks and a couple innings here and there during conference.

The rumor going around is Vawter is possibly going to Florida.

Monticelli pitched 80 innings for Wisconsin with 82 Ks and a 2.71 ERA. She is undoubtedly a lesser prospect than Keeney and Vawter, but she’s also only played one year, so there’s a lot of room for improvement under Roacha.

Nuwer is in Perfect Game Top 50 at no. 12 pitcher & no. 36 overall from 10/22 ranking. Also plays some shortstop. Tanner is ranked by Extra Inning in upper echelon of pitchers but a few ahead of her. Also plays 1b/3b/of. Dodge is not highly ranked at pitcher but also plays 1b/of.

Do we have room for both

Any word on our standing with Keeney? Lots of folks seem to think she may be headed to Norman but I thought we were in a good position with her.

Oklahoma doesn’t lose many battles that they want to win, especially now that NIL is a thing. Holding out hope, particularly with the latest pitching commitment they received, but they have money to offer that most schools don’t.

I’m assuming losing Bahl, Storako, as well as having an inexperienced Deal & SJ they’re gonna get as many pitchers as they can
