It come down to Houston had the money to offer Lair the best deal. Her market wasn’t the highest after this season. Not a lot schools had money to offer what she was getting here at Tennessee for an unknown. Sometimes going to a lesser program players will excel and Lair will be one of loose type of players. She probably play some SS and 2B but play every game the next 2 years. She’ll be an all big 12 player her senior year.

How much money was Lair getting at Tennessee? Did UT sell a lot of Beautea jerseys or mugs the last year or two? I doubt it. Will she at Houston? I doubt it. If not, then what is NIL besides legalized bribery, thanks to booster who apparently are OK with throwing their money away. It's all kind of absurd.

Deerpark12 mentioned this in a thread a couple of pages back that most of the highly rated players already have their deal and destination done behind the scenes before entering the portal. So LV's and all others probably had no chance for her anyway.

Rumor is Maxwell is OU bound and should hear soon. Not sure how credible the source is though.

It could very well happen but OU fans start a lot of rumors because they think pretty much everyone in the portal is coming to Norman.

Reminds me of Vol fans that were always speaking of Jon Gruden flying into Knoxville during coaching search. I doubt that there would be many in the portal turning OU down if they came calling.

In all sports, with the portal and NIL I don’t think players view it the same as fans. the trend feels more like professional sports now

Yeah NIL has pretty much ruined college sports now. WTBS, the one good thing is it evens out the playing field vs. schools like Vandy that have essentially been doing pay-to-play for years with their endowment money.

Absolutely…coaches are looking for the best players and players are looking for the best opportunity to win and capitalize. Nobody leaves to play or coach for a losing program to make less.
