Tennessee Softball 2023

No week off? Seems like every season we have an off week as far as the SEC goes.

Tennessee Softball 2024 SEC Schedule (home series in BOLD)
March 15-17: MISSOURI
March 22-24: at South Carolina
March 29-31: at Auburn
April 5-7: GEORGIA
April 12-14: at Mississippi State
April 19-21: LSU
April 26-28: at Alabama
May 3-5: KENTUCKY

Edit: I found it, I think, start a week late.
Yes, Tennessee’s off week is the first week of conference play. There will almost certainly be a non-conference home tournament.

How any self respecting Tennessean can commit to that school is beyond me.
She is from Kansas. Only been in Tennessee a little over 3 years. I believe being able to pitch and hit was very important to her. Staff at Clemson must also be really good. Another recruit that is considering them also loves the coaching staff. I also think the idea of getting Clemson to the top for the first time ever is very appealing up Addi. I am now a Clemson Softball fan. But only temporarily until Addi graduates. 😁

As someone with a kid who played in college, and one who is now...sometimes they want a change. I'm floored how people think that people raised in TN should never ever dare think about living anywhere else. I've got a son who wanted to go to UT and did, and a daughter who couldn't wait to see what else was out there.

Get off the "you're from TN so you MUST play for TN" high horse.

EDIT: and I've had 4 kids in college. One graduated from UT because that's what he wanted. One started at UT and then transfered up north and he's turned out well, one went to UTC as that was a great fit for her, and the youngest wanted to spread her wings. We NEVER said "you're from TN so you can't leave" type thing - that's just crazy especially if they have great opportunities elsewhere. And the youngest is playng softball at an out of state school. UT was an option but at a laughable scholarship offer.

Daughter of Candice Fode who played for Tennessee from 96-97

Is she the first legacy player? Fairly young program (1996) for those first year players to have their kids in teens-early 20’s now. Sarah Feketes daughter ( Halle Bailey) will be on the clock next year and I’d say Tennessee and everyone else after that.

8-0 LVs after 9, playing 10 and I had to leave. Ryleigh (2), Karlyn (3), Charli (2), and Payton (2) all pitched well. Sophia and Laura (our two transfers) were the offensive stars. Sophia HR and 2B, Laura HR, 2B, and 1B. Katie and Boo also homered. Mackenzie started at 2B while Bella and Laura played SS. Taylor P played 3B. Each Leach sister played some OF and both pretty quick. G started at 1B and played great D with Boo coming in, and all 3 catchers got innings. Karen split starters 5 and 5 innings but this may mean Mackenzie playing 2B???? Zaida will obviously be at 3B in the spring. She was there but not in uniform and Gracie did not play. Ashley and her mom were sitting in my row behind home plate and it was nice seeing them there. We can score with anybody, in my very humble opinion, success of season lies with Karlyn as I’ve stated before.

Any report from game today?
When I left in the top of the tenth inning it was 14-0 Lady Vols. Karen Weekly has tremendous depth on this team (except maybe pitching). Just about all the players played half the game because of the depth, plus I'm sure the coaches wanted a chance to look at all the players in action. All four pitchers saw action and pitched well. If I remember correctly, White and Orsini pitched two innings each and Pickens and Gottshall pitched three innings each.
Taylor, Nugent, Mealer and Gibson all had home runs. I hope I didn't leave anyone else out. Nugent, Mealer and West all had doubles. There is going to be tremendous competition at all positions except with Kiki in centerfield. I was impressed with Nugent and Mealer, both are good pickups. Mealer may give Bella Faw a lot of competition for playing time at shortstop. Donihoo and Rodriguez played at second base. Puni did not dress out, hope it's nothing serious. Taylor Pannell played at third base and so did Boo Gibson. Giulia K. handled the move from catcher to first base very well. Kirkpatrick handled the catching duties most of the game and did OK.
