Every game is different. If three hits was the norm, you would have a point. But that’s not what has happened all year long. Tennessee did just enough to win a three-game series against the #3 team in the country and the primary competition standing between the team and repeating as SEC champions. Held Georgia, one of the highest scoring teams in the country, to 5 runs in 3 days.
I’m not expecting a championship parade to be held for this weekend‘s result, but I do find it odd and a little disappointing that the first reaction I see from some people is that a win isn’t good enough. That every effort has to be perfect or else the future outcome will be failure.
Sports is about winning the day, the future has to take care of itself. You learn from every game, win or lose, but to diminish the success of the present out of fear for the future means you take no joy from it. That makes a season less of a journey and more of a death march with no finish line.
