Tennessee Softball 2024

Every game is different. If three hits was the norm, you would have a point. But that’s not what has happened all year long. Tennessee did just enough to win a three-game series against the #3 team in the country and the primary competition standing between the team and repeating as SEC champions. Held Georgia, one of the highest scoring teams in the country, to 5 runs in 3 days.

I’m not expecting a championship parade to be held for this weekend‘s result, but I do find it odd and a little disappointing that the first reaction I see from some people is that a win isn’t good enough. That every effort has to be perfect or else the future outcome will be failure.

Sports is about winning the day, the future has to take care of itself. You learn from every game, win or lose, but to diminish the success of the present out of fear for the future means you take no joy from it. That makes a season less of a journey and more of a death march with no finish line.
UT as a team is not hitting the ball well.

If we can go 10 and 2 again we'll win another SEC regular championship. Everyone has five losses except Florida and they have to play Georgia three times so you would expect them to lose at least one there. I think 20 and 4 wins the league maybe 19 and 5

How many did they get? One if our hits counted as 3 runs, that matters.
Sophia Nugent is a gem of a player and very good in the clutch; so glad we got her in the portal from Oklahoma, their loss and our gain. Also, Laura Mealer had a heck of a good day in the field at shortstop in case you didn't notice.

Both outstanding pickups. Love Mealers energy

.247 over last 6 games
Once again, .247 is slightly bad considering the talent on paper for this team, but when your all american leadoff was unavailable this weekend (which an inexperienced freshman had to come in and start) & some players are in a mini slump i’d say 4-2 in that span is pretty good.

I will say this weekend should not be taken lightly especially going down to Starkville. This state team may be 8-7 in the conference right now, but they have played some top teams pretty hard. They beat Clemson, CSUF, A&M, Florida, and Arkansas (won the series against them). Watching a little bit of their games the past couple of weekends their pitching definitely seems hittable so I am hopeful that some players can get going and gain some confidence this weekend. Also hoping that Kiki is 100% and available, she is much more valuable to this team at the end of this month.
