Tennessee Softball 2024

Parker and Pickering were the two freshman players you were thinking of.

I’ll post any Significant SEC portal players here if I catch it before you all. Would think the next couple weeks will have action.
I could see Deal and Geurin leaving. Deal to be #1 somewhere (maybe USC) without portal kids coming in and SJ for playing time. My personal speculation

Didn’t they have three freshmen starting in OKC? I think so, and I think they all hit HRs.

They are losing three all-time great players.

But, they will reload and be as good as ever IMO.
Oh 100% they will be good, I just think it’ll be interesting to see how consistent they can be in a much tougher conference. Let’s be honest the big 12 is nothing compared to the sec

SJ is interesting because for the longest time some people thought she was going to be really good even when her and Pickering were playing together for Hotshots.

Classic beast early on and faded as she got older and everyone caught up. Early commit to OU before the 2022 class recruiting cycle got shut down.

About the only way to make OU softball more powerful at this point is to put the SEC brand behind them.

Wait, we’re doing that.

Oh boy. They’re about to have an obnoxious portal haul.

They very well could 5 peat.

They've made the sport unenjoyable, tbh. Similar to when UConn was dominating everybody.

Everyone was going on about OU’s small ball but it was the mashing the ball out of the park was the big difference.

Anyone who thinks that OU plays small ball is sorely mistaken.

They play like the modern big leaguers play.

Although accurate statement. It cannot be overlooked that even OU has a slapper(s)/speed in the lineup. It was said OU has the blueprint…OU has power athletes and they have put it on the ground and beat it out. Don’t think anyone said the roster needed 7-8 players of small ball, but 1-2 to transform the lineup.

This!!! I knew we were doomed when Karen thought an all righty lineup was a great idea with the only “speed” was Milloy who was inconsistent to put it nicely. When you have some slappers or even hitters with good speed you are able to be unpredictable in your offense. I hope we implement more speed into our offense next year…can’t continue to rely on the long ball/power because that will come and go but speed will always be there

Look at our stolen bases compared to OU. Kiki helped cover the difference and we were still well behind.

Look at every team that made it to the world series this year they have some slappers but most importantly speed throughout their lineup (actually I’m not too sure about osu)

Speed at the plate and on the bases makes the D have to defend differently than their used to. Causes throwing errors etc. Just to repeat your statement Majors, 1 or 2 can change a game. Don't have to necessarily have both in the lineup same time but nice to have the option or pinch runners also.

And Karen's pinch runners have not really excelled at based running the last couple of seasons.

I did not see any slippers in their lineup. Even Boone and the nine hitter were swinging away.

I didn’t see them slap one time, but I didn’t watch every game.

Hodge has a really nice swing for a smaller person.
So you missed the drop/drag bunt out of the shoot for Boone and the chip shot of Hodge behind 3B. Slap is just one part. Similar to Falby inside the park.

Boone, Hodges and Coleman can slap but don’t do it often
Boone bunted the most and then Coleman

Hodges really didn’t have that many at bats cause Typically Torres would start the game having much more power. The last inning or so Hodges would come in with better defense

Slapping is different from bunting. I am all for having fast players who can bunt.

Slippers are almost always weak hitters who have to slap. It’s why the usually hit down in in the lineup.

A triple threat slaps, hits, bunts. Boone did all 3 and she tagged one of her last AB 190 feet. Not sure that’s weak. Falby far from weak.

Are going to say White is a weak hitter? She made us guess each AB. Lair prior to injury was our last one triple of all 3 with speed. White leadoff.

A fast player who can bunt is a wasted out and base runner.
