Who interestingly wasn’t playing regularly for them until game two of our series in Tuscaloosa. Was mostly a pinch hitter before that, despite her speed. They had the two sisters from Nashville starting in the outfield instead of her.Lead off for Alabama. Beat us at Alabama 1-0 and beat us in the 14 inning game.
My guess is his salary went up substantially if he received more than Malveauxs 160K. Texas Tech paid their last head coach under 110K before Craig took the position. I’d say he was somewhere around there. They have NIL support greater there than here for softball.Wonder why he quit Texas Tech? Already a HC in a big name Conference? No support, no NIL ??
Any chance he'll bring some player(s) with him? Don't know jack about TTU.My guess is his salary went up substantially if he received more than Malveauxs 160K. Yes. As of right now we have 15 on the summer roster with 6 recruits coming in (Dodge is already on the roster). I wouldn’t say 21 is a big roster, but depending on scholarships available/NIL money I doubt we will have more than 1 maybe 2 transfers come in. The biggest concern is pitching considering we have 2 freshman, Orsini, & Pickens that is a lot to gamble on with the conference becoming more competitive. I know Karen said she didn’t like having a big staff, but I think it is something she should do (also I am BEGGING Karen to not rely on just 2 pitchers for the majority of the season it did not work out well)We(UT) are going to have more hit the portal?
More leave?
otherwise we're set?
Don't mean to be dense, just making sure that I understand.
I think that was the case, I don’t think there is a need for her on the roster with 2 returning & 2 freshman coming in. I would say the only need for her is if we don’t get a portal pitcher, however that should be high on Karen’s list of needs now that the assistant roles have been filledWas Flatford just a walk-on pickup for spring 2024? Not seeing her on the summer roster.

Oh 100% there are MANY games for example where I felt like Payton or Karlyn didn’t need to finish out or even start games just solely based on the score. However, I think the precedent was set early on that those 2 were going to be the ones you ride. In addition to that, an offense may feel like they have to do more and end up hurting themselves look at game 2 against Georgia when Karen decided to start Orsini. Nothing against Charli, but from the outside looking it it never seemed like Karen had confidence that Orsini could handle the big games. I still think a staff where you have 3 pitchers that could be starters & 1-2 pitchers that are relief/closers help you. Look at what OU did this year, they had 6 pitchers and used them throughout the year, but towards the end really relied on just Maxwell who only ended up with 155 innings on the year out of the 411 their staff pitched meanwhile KP & PG pitched 335 innings out of the 373 for the year and I’m sorry but with as many good hitters as we will face in the future having 2 pitch 90% of the innings will not get us to where we want to be.I agree. Relying almost exclusively on just two arms creates too much strain -- physical AND mental -- on those two players IMO. I realize great pitchers don't grow on trees and that landing several top throwers for one team is easier said than done.
But for Karen to say she doesn't like having a big staff is concerning. And yes, you always have to worry about keeping people happy enough to stick around. I get that. But I think we play plenty enough games that we could have more than one orvtwo aces and everyone still get plenty of chances to shine in the circle.
Believe it comes down to trust. She can have 5-6 on staff but will only trust 1-3 when it matters.I agree.
