Tennessee Softball 2025

Please explain throwing the complete game, inquiring minds want to know
Again, on a batter count. She went through the lineup twice, like she did yesterday, plus two batters.

If you've watched this program for any length of time, surely you've noticed that the staff rarely lets a pitcher go through the order more than twice when throwing on consecutive days.

I imagine since she hit that mark with one out in the top of the 5th (at 63 pitches, if my math is correct), they let her finish the inning. The radio broadcast noted that there was action in the Tennessee bullpen during the bottom of the 5th, so she would have been done if the game had continued.

If Pickens was on a pitch count or batter count yesterday she should have not picked at all today. That was 3 consecutive days of work. I would not have pitched her any against UCLA. I would let their batters see her. It was not a game they had to win. If it was you go with your best. You start Pickens against UCLA you let her finish it. Not sure why she pitched today. If we could not beat Minnesota with our #2 or 3 pitcher then we didn’t deserve to win anyway. I watch and support Lady Vols softball. Have for a long but have never been a fan of the Weekly's coaching. Me personally I think it’s time for a change but that's just my opinion and it doesn't mean very much.

who do u think we should target? would love your opinion.

Not the way we wanted the tournament to go, but it is tough to win out there much more so than it would be if the roles were reversed. Traveling 2000 miles while they are traveling 200 miles or less and always being the road team is a double disadvantage of playing in California. You can see it in basketballl as teams from the east and midwest that have to travel out there lose 70 to 80 percent of the time. It also can happen in the reverse as teams traveling from there to the midwest and east are losing a large percentage of the time an example is unranked Iowa over fourth ranked USC just a couple weeks ago.

I don't know what it says about our team as to get a clear picture we need the opportunity to play UCLA and Oregon after they have traveled 2000 miles and let us be the home team on the field. There is an advantage batting last even if it is just psychological. Every time you get them out you know you have six at bats coming before the game could be over. There is certainly more pressure in a tie game and the late innings when the team batting last can walk it off with a run.

I'm not putting a lot into losing two games out there to top ranked teams. I will get more information as to how we play top ranked teams at home and in a closer area to UT.

Finally was not impressed with the lineup the coaches put out there in the Oregon game. If like I am reading they wanted to limit Karlyn why was she pitching any other games except Oregon and UCLA. Why did we decide to take her out of the game with a three run lead even if she walked two and an infield hit loaded the bases. She was still the best option to get us out of it with the least damage. No reason for her not to face more batters in that situation. A poor decision as far as I am concerned by the coaches who were not on their game in the big matchups in this tourney.

didn’t get to comment on the games as I was charting when they were playing but Tanner didn’t get to see any action this weekend? I would’ve thought this weekend was a great time to get her some innings

Probably a two pitcher team outside midweek games after this weekend. The 3 will fight for innings where they can.

I got us going about 15 and 9 in SEC play. I think we take at least one game in the Oklahoma and the Texas series might take more. We have both Mississippi schools and Auburn would expect to do well in all three of those series.

Well, the season is just under 3 weeks old. I hope they do better than 15-9. By this time in previous seasons we had lost more games so this seasons loss count should not be a surprise. We lost 6 times in 2022, 5 times in 2024 to go with the 3 in 2025. I'm hoping the hitting coach will wake up those bats that were silent in the 3 losses.

I agree, I am just a little bit more optimistic with this years offense because it seems we have more versatility and not just about the long ball. Also I think not having boo was a bummer but what can you do about it

I’m assuming she would have got some mound time Sunday in the Minnesota game but Karen’s coaching cost them against UCLA and made the Minnesota game a must win. And she had to burn up wasted innings for Pickens that game to get her stats up.

Did Boo get hit in the Head or Face? I think it’s crazy it’s not mandatory that there’s a face mask on every players helmets. Players all wear elbow guards nowadays but not face masks on the helmets. I know where I would rather get hit.

It should be about player safety with masks in the infield and batters box. I know it’s not cool but ask a player that’s been hit in the face how it felt not being cool.

When I saw it looked like it was to the face more than the helmet.

Hopefully Boo will get to play in at least some of the games this weekend. That would help her get her swing back and help on any mental block she may have developed toward facing pitchers.

With Boo out, there was an opportunity for someone to step up. There still is. We have a lineup that has power and speed. We just have to finish.

She was hit on the chinguard of her helmet. Every player does have a cage on their helmet.

Come on, that’s like telling us you know Karen has Pickens on a Batters Count for the reason she got pulled against UCLA and then she pitches a complete game the next day.

Agree on the series with OU and Texas. As a Sooner fan i will say we don’t have near the depth of bats as last year. 7-9 hitters are not reliable at this point. Texas and Florida still the teams to beat i think
