Tennessee Titans sue Lane Kiffin

Then all the attention the Cowboys get as a "contender" every year is totally undeserved.

Hmm, a fanbase that barely has a foothold in Tennessee or the consistently largest merchandise seller and largest fanbase in the NFL by a fairly large margin?

Not to mention if it was anyone else they would be banned outright if not warned. I love this board, but it reeks of double-standards and "longtime friend" favoritism. I've read some of his old posts and he wasn't anywhere near this unconscionably abrasive in the past.
Boo. Hoo.

The Cowboys being the team of the 90's and just being high profile in general helps them be considered a contender every year, but granted, they are usually overrated. However, they are still 10 times the franchise the Titans franchise is. They don't have to fall back on an AFL Title 50 years ago as evidence that they are relevant.

Both of which have absolutely nothing to do with whether a franchise is a Super Bowl contender? Cool...

Honestly, I would say maybe Cal. Mediocre for entire decades and slightly above mediocre in the last 10 years.

Play second fiddle in a one man band.

hey cal at least won a couple of national championships in the 20s. but i'd say that's an insult to the titans organization.

i have a lot of time on my hands, but reading old posts of yours isn't on the top of my "must do" list.
Not sure if I should be flattered, amused, or disrurbed by the fact someone is doing that.

so their like the ole miss of the sec?

More like the Vols recently, at one time a strong contender but have faded recently and every once in a while have found a way to back their way into the playoffs.

Nothing whiney about suing over a breach of contract. Contracts exist for a reason. I think it's a good move by the Titans. Plus, everyone hates Lane Kiffin. This can only help the Titans popularity

It's exactly the opposite, this looks petty on the Titans part and actually takes some of the focus off Kiffin and some of his shadier dealings. Unless the Titans have some sort of smoking gun they look foolish.

First of all, there was definitely a breach of contract. What recourse is there other than to file suit?

Secondly, Lane Kiffin is not liked outside of USC. There are a lot of people who don't like him and would love to see his comeuppance.

I'd say this is a positive action by the Titans. People like it.

Their lack of championships certainly do.

Nonsense. The tennessee titans have been in existence for 11 years and are 104-72 during those years. They have won 3 division championships and an AFC championship. They are nowhere close to being a bottom feeder. Smack yourself.

he must get his kicks from getting a rise out of people. because that comment is utterly ridiculous.

What damages can be proven, especially considering Fisher came out immediately and said they would replace him in house?

That doesn't change the fact that the Titans still look like a jilted lover refusing to let their ex go and move on with their lives. This incident doesn't make Lane look better or worse.

From the feedback I've heard it is divided, their are people who like this move but even among most of them they see little point to it, it won't accomplish anything. There are just as many who think it's ridiculous and an utter waste of time and resources, I happen to fall into that category.

It amazes me how many people feed his need to get a rise. You know, there is an easy fix for folks like him.

Ok, well as far as your last point goes, I think that is something that Titans fans would care about. But others would not.

It won't go very far, but I still like the move. If only on principle.

They won the AFL in Houston. Big deal. I guess Cleveland fans should be crowing about their AAFL titles. The Oilers, like their low rent stadium this year, are underwater.

Would you like to debate the legal merits of the Oiler lawsuit? You seem so well versed in the subject. Perhaps we can follow that up with some discussion of grown men who write love letters to Jessie Scroggins.

Cleveland has won a league title more recently than the Oilers/Titans have.

The AFL's first three years were played at a level lower than the CFL anyway. Houston's 1962 featured George Blanda, who threw 42 interceptions in a 14 game season. Houston made it to the title game anyway, where he chucked five more in a game that they lost 20-17 in double overtime.

Jeff Fisher is a sharp individual. His coaching abilities are debatable but I think this is a smart move if you want to cause problems for Kiffin. Fisher is a USC alum and I would bet he is an influential donor and knows the boosters out there. As we all know often times the boosters can make things difficult for a coach. I would also bet some of those boosters might be a little ticked at the way Kiffin handled this. JMO
