Cause he wouldn't be surrounded by scrubbs like at Memphis State. He would be surrounded with talent. lol
Nah, I kid. But seriously dont think many if any said better. Just better than having to start a true fresh.
I saw more than a few fools saying he would be better on another thread, but i geuss you can chalk that up to anger over Golden leaving. I understand wanting Barton over a freshman. I just know how much ya'll blasted Golden for not being a true point guard. Such is the case for Barton, he played the 2 way more than the 1. That being said, don't think he ends up at UT.
Yeah I've read his game is very similar Goldens. Agree with the last part too unfortunetly. Syr. or Maryland it sounds like.
Maybe we still got a few of the football hostess' from a few years ago tho.
So you think 21-footers are higher percentage shots than transition layups and shots in the paint? Ok.
I don't understand all the people saying Barton is better than Golden. He's a 6'0 shooting guard that averaged around 6.5 points and 1.5 assists over his career. I know the cupboard is bare and he would be a good pick up at this stage in the game, but temper your expectations a bit.
No he's available for the 2014-15 season. If we don't get Antonion Barton don't be surprised if we have an extra scholarship for the 2014 class.
No, I think open 3 point shots are a higher percentage than a 6'2" point guard trying to drive to the hole and get shots off against post players. Golden clearly shot more difficult shots than McBee. Sorry if you can't see that and again you are entitled to your opinion. I simply disagree.
Good call. There's a personal link to the top three he is considering: Syracuse (CJ Fair), Maryland (daughter close by) and A&M (Cyprien).Maryland seems pretty likely. Don't count out Texas A&M. Glynn Cyprien recruited Barton and his brother to Memphis, and is now an assistant at A&M. They have always had a good relationship.
Sometimes less is more...golden had a habit of trying to do too much, and his biggest weakness which cost us a few games was defense and lack of effort. If Barton could simply bring the ball up without turning it over that's an upgrade over our current situation. He would be an upgrade defensively, and he is a definite upgrade from the perimiter...something this team could use.
I don't think anybody is expecting him to be an all conference kinda guy, but a guy who averages 7-8 PPG a 2:1 ratio shoot 40% from three and defend his a$$ off.
Aww, you stopped ignoring me... Are we friends again?
Seriously though, Barton would be a good pickup for ya'll, but I dont think an upgrade. He's not a good passer, many times the ball stops moving when its in his hands, and he's not able to get into the lane well. Defensively, he's a little quicker than Golden, but is much weaker, get's caught on screens a lot. I know he wouldn't be expected to be all conference, but Golden did have the potential to be all conference last year and this year. True, sometimes less is more, but a lot of the time, less is just less.
