Antonio barton is a shooting guard. At best, he could be referred to as a shoot-first combo guard. While he came up listed as a pg, the only place i can recall him recently being referred to as a pg is in articles from the various towns/colleges trying to recruit him in the last month.

I do, however, think the 'ups' will outweigh the 'downs' if he signs with utk. Just watched the yt video; he was running the floor and distributing pretty well (as well as popping 3's). He just might surprise and be just what the doctor ordered for the vols.

Just a few quick things on Maryland...are they expected to be very good, haven't seen them in preseason polls, would think that would factor into the decision. Also, Dez Wells and Nick Faust, Maryland's 2 best guards are returning...and while wells isnt a prototypical PG he plays a lot of PG. Maryland is also bringing in 4* top 75 player Roddy Peters, who just so happens to be a PG.

Have said it a hundred times. I would love Barton in this situation. Of course, it is a tough situation so that is certainly part of it. But I live in Memphis and have seen AB play. He was in the same backcourt as Joe Jackson. He is quicker and a better defender than Golden. He doesn't have as much of a polished offensive game but can hit the outside shot. We just need ball handling, defense, and an occasional 3 with 3-4 other scoring options. AB can do that.

I grew up on Leggtown rd., my mom still lives there. Ive been all up and down that creek. Small world.

Golden is the better player, but Barton is a lot quicker and gets more steals and I think he shoots better than Trey

I would say this kid would bust his ass big time if given the chance in a program like TN.
A PG that rebounds. Double doubles and triple doubles. Go figure.

After reading the story I want to see him succeed in any way possible. I think UT giving this kid a D-1 chance would be awesome. If Barton goes elsewhere (which honestly seems likely) I hope Coach Martin gives Marshun a call.

Austin and Markel Crawford tweeted about Damon Stoudamire leaving but there were also other tweets later that all was good with 'TigerNation'. No they dont want to leave with him.

First question from the crowd for Martin tonight at the BOC? "What are your thoughts on Antonio Barton?" HAHA. He said he can't discuss that.
