Tech is putting together an NIL offer for Perry. I think we’re wise to wait until after that. If he visits, I think we have more to offer in every way. From what I understand we want to see their hand first. If he shuts it down when he gets the offer, nothing wasted. I’ve also heard Knecht was on the brink of committing elsewhere, but would read a visit as a get. Apparently we did a video tour of facilities and broke down film with him, and he loved all of it. As for Ledlum, we seem to have a lot of quiet confidence. I think he’ll decide Monday, and everyone seems to like our chances there.

It's not a failure until we have a poor season.

We're coming off a Sweet Sixteen season where at one point we reached #1, this after our "failure" in the portal where we only landed Key.

It's not about the pieces on the board, it's about how you play the game with them. I want a PG and I'm not talking myself into any nonsense. Barnes & staff have shown over and over that if they have the right guys (attitude and work ethic wise) they can win as a team. The overall talent on this year's team even without Santi or JJJ returning will be the best it's been during the Barnes era. If you look at how many top 100 players we'll have on the roster.

So I get that you've very much been in panic mode over the portal...but that's not what matters. You can "win" the portal and lay a egg in the season.

Just remember we don't hang any banners based on transfer portal rankings.

The staff has felt very good about Ledlum for awhile and taking the visit here seems like good news, and it’s a good update on Knecht as well…but when going into the portal season knowing PG was the biggest need it’s a big head scratching to see where we are there.

I think you need to land 1 of Ledlum/Knecht to go with those 2, that would be a bit of an underwhelming haul. Fair or not people are going to look at Glover/Gainey as we went and took 2 easy pieces of low hanging fruit that required little to no effort.

I don't think Glover is an easy piece personally. I do think that him spending two years getting real playing time makes him better than the first time he hit the portal 2 years ago. He's not in my personal top "wants" at PG, but I think him and Gainey both are better gets from the portal than Key was last year. And if you add Ledlum or Knecht with those 2 then I'd be pretty excited.

The fact that Perry is potentially on the table makes me want to agree, but I'm totally fine with ZZ owning the point. Ques would be a much better backup there than we had this year for sure. If Santi comes back, ZZ gets healthy, I'd be happy with a Santi/Zeigler/Glover/Mashack/Dillone/Edwards backcourt.

Yeah, fair enough. I’d rather have a backup PG than nothing I suppose.

Idk kind of frustrating, still got some time left so hopefully we get something locked down

Hint: don’t pick the first one, it’s Glover.

He didn’t put the college, or talent level of each, nor the big teams they played and how they played against them. Not a good way to compare players.

Just a way to talk y’all into taking Glover.

Put the best 4/5 teams each have played and their stats against them. Glover doesn’t have any games against real competition

there’s a reason he is a 3* portal player and there’s a reason no one hardly has reached out to him

But then you'll argue that the "best" teams aren't that good...and then you'll explain that Player A's team still loss and it doesn't matter etc. etc. etc.

I didn't make a statement about any of the 4 I listed. You're making assumptions that I'm now advocating for Glover when all I've done is share 4 players and their stats.

It’ll be hard to find anyone who isn’t feeling WTF on no PG. I don’t think Perry is dead. I just think Clark wants to see if there is an opening. If we get Perry on campus, I think he’ll commit. I’m sweating losing Santi and Phillips if we can’t get another ball handler. I’m a huge believer in the kids we signed last year, but we don’t have five players who are game ready.

Elijah Hawkins, cut down on the 4.0 turnovers and he is a baller. Only a sophomore

Played against pretty good competition. 11th in the nation in assist. Yuri Collins also had 4 turnovers a game when we recruited him

Actually only reached AP #2 this past season. But we were ranked every week. TN hasn’t done that very often.

Not landing a PG is a disaster, IMO. No way around it. I'd believe that even if ZZ hadn't been hurt.

Pretty underwhelming update by Ramey, and this is as someone who has been taking a wait and see approach and asking people to calm down lol. I guess I’ll stick to my wait and see approach for another few weeks, but that update doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.

We absolutely, unequivocally CANNOT go into next season without taking a PG from the portal. ZZ is the only true PG on this current roster and he is nursing a torn ACL. How can we possibly feel that is good enough to make a run next year? Ledlum would be a solid get, but if we only pull Ledlum and Jordan Gainey that’s just not enough.

Their slow-roll approach to getting a PG makes absolutely no sense to me, but this is why I’m a couch coach and not a real coach. What do I know. It’s just puzzling beyond belief.
