Tennessee Transfer Portal Targets

So do you agree with what I was saying that we only have 11 people on the roster and can take 3 if Phillips leaves?

2 spots are available for seniors to return and/or adding transfers.

Dilione took the 13th spot mid season.

Add Cade Phillips, Estrella, and Cameron Carr (16).

Subtract Key, JJJ, SV, ORN, and Uros (11).

Okay sweet so that’s exactly what I was saying then. If Phillips leaves then we are down to 10. Can take 3: Santi, Demary, Ledlum/Knecht.
Edwards wouldn’t have to leave in that scenario then right?

I am sure you are a great person, and I like you because you love the same college program as I, but I sure wish you would stop with this sometimes cringeworthy twists or reality to always try to revise history or a situation to put UT in the most favorable light possible.

I know this family well and to say he was "favoring" us is misleading at best, and just downright untruthful. He liked us, but we were never higher than #2 and ended up most likely #3 on his list towards the end. With that said, #1 is now behind him, and I am confident #2 is not going to be an attractive option at this point. I am hopeful he comes here, and I will go back to trying to work my family influence indirectly again...which as we have already seen I am clearly a failure at doing successfully.

With that said, if he goes elsewhere, then I am sure you will come up with some explanation of how we went in a different direction or the family (or "handlers", which he does not have by the way) wanted too much NIL or something...that will be a complete and utter shock to him and his family and anyone else directly involved.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully we land him. In your opinion, what are TN’ chances?

I have both Phillips. Am I going crazy? 😂

As of today, I don’t see Phillips returning. That may change once he receives more info regarding the NBA draft, but he continues to listen to the wrong people. It’s amazing the pressure these kids are under at such a young age.

Think of it this way, if all seniors were to leave, we’d be able to take both Ledlum and Knecht. If Santi decided to come back, he could do so if Phillips left. Demary would then need to have someone portal out. I know for a fact entering the off-season we only had two available spots if all seniors left.

I think we are saying the same thing😂 I thought you were saying only taking 1 of Ledlum or Knecht. If we take both then yes someone will have to transfer out if Sant comes back

This might be my favorite post on this whole board

It was good,” the 6-foot-6m, 200-pound Knecht said on Sunday. “It was really cool to meet Coach Barnes and the rest of the coaching staff as well as the players.”

“They said they would work on my body and give me more muscle mass to help me move laterally on defense,” he said, “improve my defense, and as well on offense. Help me in just like real skill work and stuff like that. They were saying they just have a lot of connections and stuff with the coaches.”

Definitely really liked it,” Knecht said. “We went to the spring game. Just the crowd and atmosphere of that spring game was crazy, there was like 60,000 people. I could only imagine what the basketball side of it would be.”

Caught up with Northern Colorado's Dalton Knecht after his official visit to Tennessee. Said things went well and he enjoyed his time in Knoxville the last couple days. He's visited Oregon and Tennessee. Doesn't currently have other visits scheduled and doesn't really have a timeline for his recruitment. Said he's taking his time with it and seeing what happens.

Oregon, Tennessee, Indiana and North Carolina were programs he mentioned that are involved right now.

On the floor, he said he considers himself more of a big guard. Went through a growth spurt in high school and at junior college. Grew up playing guard ... then he went from 5-8 to 6-6 over the course of 2-3 years.

Said the pitch from Tennessee is the Vols could help him physically mature in the weight room and on the floor help develop his skills to get him to the NBA. He said his ultimate goal is looking for a program where he can win games and a program that can help get him to the next level.

What happened there can you elaborate? Grant Ramey try to interview him and he declined?
Yeah that’s what I remember someone posting that Grant tried to interview him and he declined. Of course he could just be playing things close to this chest, not sure

Gotta say that sounds really positive compared to Ledlums “No comment”
I don’t read too much into Ledlum not commenting. It’s a no win situation. He could have said he loved it and then get hopes up, he could say something people take as a slight. I could see why a player would want to just stay silent until an announcement.

Sounds like they were honest with the young man. Everything stated is what he needs to be more viable at next level. His presence alone would help UT’s chances of playing in meaningful games at end of the year. Barnes schedules tough non-conference opponents too which should be attractive. The competition he would get in practice defensively would sharpen his offensive skills too. Great fit IMO. Hope he feels the same. Could be our #1 option from day 1. Partner him with Ledlum and that would be a high scoring duo.
