According to Jeff Borzello, Gainey is a one of the top shooters that was in portal and Barnes will like the results. With Gainey and Vescovi how many schollys does that leave open even with Phillips supposedly leaving?

If true, that changes how I view the pickup. Suddenly it feels like Barnes doing a favor for a friend, possibly at the expense of the team. Definitely bigger needs than a shooting guard. Like a PG.

Or you could view it as the staff feels like Knecht is picking Oregon and they’re going to see Ledlum in desperation in hopes to lock him up.

Only way we get both is if Edwards and someone else leaves, right?

Just passing along the info. I asked Ramey if this was 100% done and he is on scholarship no matter what, and he responded “Yes. 100% certain.”

Doubt you'd see the complaints if he had done it at a higher level. But taking a successful player from a lower conference just feels a little deja vu for Barnes. Still, if he ends up non-scholly, great pick up. If he takes up a spot we could have used elsewhere, not so great. JMO

What was Keys stats, how did he do? This was just a favor for a friend to keep Gainey around.

I'm not talking about game. My point was Key was a solid shooter at the mid major level, then he got here and couldn't play. Same thing with EJ Anosike.
K State was carried by a P5 transfer.
Texas was as well.
These mid major bums don't translate to this level.

We have bigger needs that could/should be addressed by that scholarship. If he is indeed scholarship.
