Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

I know his name was tossed around for fun a few weeks back, but before I get my hopes up what is the realistic chance of landing Kessler? I know we will call just like everyone else, but do we have a real shot at being a major player in his recruitment?

I would feel a lot better about next year after losing 4-starters if we bring in Chandler, BHH, Kessler, and a transfer guard who can shot from the perimeter.

It would make little sense for Kessler to go to UGA even if his family has legacy ties. Why not just go to UGA in the first place? Nah, he's transferring somewhere he can win and develop.

Also I don’t think Powell would be able to play. I think there’s a requirement for intra-sec transfers to sit a year.

Making Fulky 2nd team is just disrespectful.

He’s took so many bumps and bruises for this team. When healthy, is a key piece in running this offense.

Barnes had an entire team full of those guys last year and we were headed toward the NIT.

I'm not sure people realize just how rare and special that Williams, Admiral, and Bone group really was. Which makes it all the more painful that they only won 3 tourney games as a group.

We literally lost 3 of our main scorers and big guy at Center. A drop off was more than expected. Especially after Bowden was more focused on as a scorer and Turner injury.

Yeah last year was a mess, Turners injury was a killer and we had to resort to starting some kid we flew in from Australia on day one. Bowden wasn’t suited for the role he needed to play. And there was a lot of distraction over the whole Uros issue.

We don’t agree often but you’re right.

You said he is at his best with guys in the system for 2-4 years. The bulk of that roster was just that and we struggled. Injuries and things are going to happen every single year. You have to account for those things.

Essentially what you are saying is that for Barnes and UT to be successful, he needs to turn a 3 star player in every class into one of the top 5 players in college basketball, have another 3 star become a first team all SEC performer, and sprinkle in another 3 to 4 other high level role players that happen to be upperclassmen for him to achieve success. And oh yeah, we also have to maintain all of those players at full health for an entire season. I hope you aren't holding your breath on that.

That was an extremely special group of guys that I highly doubt we ever see duplicated again at UT. Its a shame that group only has 3 NCAA tourney wins to its name.

He would have to get both NCAA and SEC waivers to play immediately but IMO there’s a good case for that given the NCAA violations at Auburn. They wouldn’t have banned themselves from the postseason this year if they weren’t guilty of something serious.

Walker is much more talented and has more size. If hes coming here there is 0 shot Fulk should start over him.
They’d both be able to get plenty of minutes so it wouldn’t really matter. But I don’t think Kessler has a slam dunk case for a waiver which could be a problem

If I were Fulky I wouldn’t come back to be “second team”
TBH I could see Barnes using a Fulky 4 / Kessler 5 lineup depending on the opponent matchup.

Not sure I’d Sharpie in BHH as a starter either. He’s obviously very talented but we have to keep in mind he will be very young - a high school senior age-wise

The 2019-2020 team was about lack of PG play. Turner struggled with his shot, and when his season was done, we had no one who could handle the ball. Fulky and Pons improved greatly in year 3 as Fulky dominated in Lexington. Bowden was the only shooter, and he was inconsistent. JJJ, Vescovi, and ON were all freshmen. There was no one on the bench after that to contribute.

BHH is a projected lottery pick.

He’s a solid rebounder, can get to the rim, and has a decent 3 point stroke for a big man. It would be hard to keep him off the floor.

I can’t speak for Barnes cause I’m not the coach, but I think having Fulky and BHH on the floor at the same time wouldn’t be a bad idea.

It’ll be interesting to see how Barnes shapes up this roster if Fulky comes back.
