I like Gaines, but he's in a weird spot.

Great length but skinny, and he doesn't seem to be quick enough to handle guards with any real speed. Not the explosiveness of Pons or even JJJ so ya can't really just toss him in there as a "lock down" defender and deal with his lack of offense. He's also pretty old, so the likelihood he can fill out is pretty slim.

I like Gaines too. And the impression I get is that he’s a great teammate. I think he’d be a very good player in a lower conference. Otherwise I think the best hope is that by his senior year he’s matured enough that he might be a serviceable backup. Not what id consider an exciting outlook. Would think he’d opt for going the first route

I wish more people understood this. The last thing a 5* recruit wants to see is past 5*'s still on the roster because they weren't developed enough for the NBA. You need a balance of 5* one and done's and 3-4 year players to contend.

Imagine if Anfernee Simons decided to play in college and chose UT like many suspected he would. We might have won it all that year.

Yeah, one more guard that year would have been nice, especially one as dynamic as Anfernee. I remember Yves started a few games at shooting guard for Pete's sake. Losing James Daniel from the previous year was more of a loss than it seemed like it should/would have been

Can Anosike transfer again with no penalty? His scholarship doesn't matter.

Pretty much. Not sure about Fulky though. Would he play overseas?

Again you’re missing the point - without consistent PT no player can show their true worth whether it be free throws, 3 point shooting, rebounding, defense or anything. We haven’t seen enough of several guys on our bench such that we can make a definitive judgement of their worth nor abilities. You speak in absolutes about these guys without all the information. I choose to not view my opinions as fact but you appear to have such total confidence in your opinions that they become facts in your mind.

We have some really outstanding layers on our team. It appears we may be overloaded at the 2 and three positions, and lack competitive talent at the 1 and 5 and maybe the 4 positions. The 1 and 5 positions are the most important positions on a basketball team. We have the 1 position covered for next year. we need a 5 player in the worst way. Hopefully BHH will come on board and the 5 position will be in great shape. We just have to wait and see what happens. We have tried "project" players at the 5, but project players take a lot of time to develop. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't.

Fulkerson go Pro? Like in NBA Pro? I like Fulk, but he would struggle in the G-League at this point. He is a very good College Player. He has intangibles a Coach and Fans love.

To even think about playing in the league Fulk would have to show he can shoot the 3. And he hasn't done that at any point.

+Huntley-Hatfield
+Parker Stewart
+Walker Kessler or Qudus Wahab
+Transfer point or wing who plays good defense

Would be ideal....Anosike should probably transfer if he wants to play. I think Pember and Gaines are most likely to be gone. Not sure about Corey Walker.

I agree with you, but hopefully a full offseason will help with things. Also, everyone should have considerable roster turnover this year. I know we said everyone would be dealing with the same issues last season too, but this team seems poised to fill the holes we had in the 2020-21 campaign.

Some people did. I wasn’t one of them. Adding Kessler, BHH, returning Fulk and adding a backup PG. Our roster would be loaded. That’s a Top 5 team.

Just the way it is from now on. Gonzaga and Villanova have perfected getting those guys in the 40-100 range and developing them. Then adding a few key transfers. Throw in an elite 1 and done like Suggs and you become unstoppable.
