It spreads, which undoubtedly gets back to the school he’s currently at and could effect things…there’s a reason it’s not being discussed publicly and why he hasn’t entered the portal yet, why should I ruin that? I get some people will say then don’t share anything but there’s a lot of people who want the info that has been shared so

I’m not going to believe Phillips is coming here until he’s in classes. Interested to see who the mystery player is though

And that’s fair, staff liked their chances last time with him as well so very well could happen again…my take on him is I feel better if he opts to decide soon, if he waits and starts taking visiting (not Tennessee) I don’t feel good.

It’s not like he has to announce a commitment same day as portal entry? He would have plenty of publicity if he entered the portal…fwiw I’m not saying I know why he hasn’t announced yet, maybe he never does, I’m simply saying there is clearly a reason he hasn’t. I’ve heard he may go through NBA process as well so that could slow things down too.

I think several of the portal guys have it worked out before they actually enter the portal. This sounds like one of those.

Well crap. I had to jump on a meeting after posting that question and just now checking in. If you replied and then deleted the comment, I didn't see it.

Yes, not seen his name mentioned elsewhere which is why I’m not mentioning it since he’s not in the portal yet…these things change and so it very well could change, but right now the staff is expecting to have this guy on next years roster.

I'm going to go ahead and guess Yuri Collins from SLU/St. Louis. Not an elite scorer, decent 3 point shooter (36%), among best in assist rate and assists per game, all-defensive A10, 81.5% FT shooter. Rod Clark has the state of Missouri connection.

This was my guess, as well, and for a lot of the same reasons, which is why I asked if his team played in the NIT (Saint Louis did, though Collins missed the game with an injury).

Not that it eliminates the connection, but Rod Clark's connections seem to be in the Kansas City area of Missouri while Collins is from the St. Louis area. I looked to see if Collins may have played with MoKan Elite in AAU or attended Sunrise Christian, but he had no connection to either one, that I could find. Played with Bradley Beal Elite and at St. Mary's in St. Louis.

Yeah maybe. I thought he might play the long game here but valid point and hard to blame him for wanting PT next year.

Looks like that 3 number is looking more likely. Hopefully this means staff is feeling good about Phillips and mystery PG/Pack. Murray as well? Shew that'd be a deep squad.
