Again, if we weren’t looking to add a big before it’s no more a necessity now…that may be the route they go but I have more of a feeling it will be best available type, or nothing.
He's a true junior by my count who still has his Senior year, plus the additional Covid year if he chooses.Collins would be a massive pickup. I didn't peg him as the one given he's a RS Soph. Wouldn't he be a a 2-3 year guy given the extra Covid year? Additionally, that Billikens squad has a ton coming back for a team that was really starting to put it together at the end of the year. Figured they would stay mostly intact as a result.
We have four guys who have played well in big time games, two of whom were highly rated true freshman who should grow in consistency. Any position can be improved upon, but it’s not a scenario where we have to take a big to take one. If a Oscar Tshiebwe becomes available? Of course. But unless we can get a truly elite player though, I’m fine passing on a bigLol. We need a big. Like poster below said Aidoo has knee issues. Uros isnt going to be much more than he was last year, and BHH needs to take a huge leap to get what we need from him. I actually expected Tamba to split about 10 minutes a game this year.
I’m not saying they wouldn’t add a big, but I don’t think they made that move saying they had to, again they weren’t looking to Tamba as having an impact this upcoming year. Obviously you would look to add size in the 2023 class, see how guys develop and who leaves/stays…in theory you could return every single post, so hard to say.But I also feel like they wouldn’t let Tamba leave if they weren’t at least looking at adding a different big.
ORN, Uros, JJJ all about to be seniors.
BHH can be done after this season & Aidoo is the last big left at that point. No way do ya want to have to spend the bulk of your class on bigs in 2023.
Yeah, that was the concerning thing. I guess 8 assts and 2 stls vs 4 TOs isn't a terrible ratio, but the number of TOs looks bad on paper.Collins has pretty big turnover issues. He was 3rd worst overall in the NCAA in turnovers per game this year. If he did come he would really have to get that under control and do it vs better defenders than he faced all season long.
Guys who play that many minutes and handle the ball that much have turnovers, Wheeler at UGA & UK has similar numbers…most every guy who was Top 10 in assists per game this year is around a 2:1, guys who try and facilitate that much will turn it over on occasion, but you stay 2:1 or better and most coaches are gonna be pretty pleased.Yeah, that was the concerning thing. Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking, too. Collins was just a shade under at 1.9:1, but adding in his steals pushes him up to around 2.4:1. Chandler was am almost identical 1.9:1, last year, and around 2.8:1 with his steals added. And Collins averaged 2+ more minutes per game.Guys who play that many minutes and handle the ball that much have turnovers, Wheeler at UGA & UK has similar numbers…guys who try and favorite that much will turn it over on occasion, but you stay 2:1 or better and most coaches are gonna be pretty pleased.
Phillips and JJJ share time at the 4. We have four guys who are capable of playing the 5. Absolutely no reason to prioritize a big this class. If we run small ball lineup next year with transfer PG/ZZ/Santi/JJJ/BHH it will be just as unstoppable as this season, if not more so. We are fine down low.Phillips will play the 4 in college.
The Uros disrespect has to stop. The guy showed a lot of growth this past season. If he continues that trajectory into next season I personally will be very happy. He is a contributor on this team. Anyone that expected more from him from the time he came on campus than what he already has given is a bit silly IMO. All he has to do is improve at the rate he improved this past offseason and have the guys around him do the same. I am ok with our Post situation...I would take more help sure but I think honestly PG and wing is where we need the most help going forward. Not just this season but the next also. The LOss of Fulk this season and JJJ next will be big. I think Uros/BHH/AIdoo and ORNN can collectively fill in the gap of Fulky graduating this year just because there are more minutes for them to all share. JJJJ is gonnabe the hardest guy to replace and they need to be finding his successor now.Lol. We need a big. Like poster below said Aidoo has knee issues. Its not disrespect it what he is. Hes a solid defender but cant finish at the basket. He's also really slow footed. The Uros disrespect has to stop. The guy showed a lot of growth this past season.
