Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

Hed have to want to be a program changer to go to GA. Lot more appealing to go to a program that's an established winner to me?
They landed the number 1 recruit. Selling something.

I get what u are saying, too. Like I said, agree to disagree. But, if we do get Kessler (reclassified), do u agree the Vols enter the top 10 in recruiting and win 25 games again, next year ? Of course, considering everybody returns besides KA and the Admiral.
GW and JB could go pro.

Per VQ Tennessee made a strong impression on Springer, he’s not close to doing anything but Tennessee has definitely put themselves in a good spot with him.

Don’t forget about Jason Jitoboh, he likes Tennessee and they like him, issue right now is numbers and his bad weight. If there’s roster movement they would sign and redshirt him, otherwise they’ll likely ask him to take a prep year to work on his body, Barnes sees a lot of similarities between Jitoboh and Dexter Pittman.

I understand there won’t be much playing time time available if Grant and Bone stay along with Josiah coming in, but that’s two guys you redshirt plus Pember might also RS. Seems crazy.

I think Jitoboh only is here if we have 2 departures...I think 1 departure and they are bringing in a contributing big man, whether that is a graduate transfer or someone like Kessler.

Rivals has an update on Kessler from Dan McDonald from their Georgia site. The article mentions Tennessee but says Duke, Michigan, Vandy and Virginia are his leaders. Still uncertain if he will reclassify or stay in the class of 2020.

I'd say that has as much to do with the fact that he has visited those schools as much as anything.

It'll be interesting to see what Rick Barnes and company can do in the near future with a batch of 4- and 5-star recruits on the roster.

We will keep making steps in the right direction each season. My concern is when Barnes retires in the next few years, will we be able to hire a top notch replacement to keep building on what he started

I fully expect to hire within. Lanier being the most likely, imo.

Gonna need more than one in order to call it a batch. That being said I hope Barnes can recruit at that level at UT.

Well, he has certainly made this a more attractive job and laid a firm foundation and culture of winning. Provided he doesn’t take a step backwards, the next coach should come from a deeper pool. It might not be Jay Wright or Tony Bennett, but it will likely be someone you’ve heard of, or someone who has experienced a good deal of success in the mid-major or lower P5 ranks.

I expect someone like Chris Beard to get a bunch of interest once Texas Tech is eliminated. Nate Oats is a similar coach who Bama just hired from Buffalo. Kelvin Sampson may upgrade from Houston. Russ Turner from UC Irvine is another. Johnny Dawkins from UCF.

The staff seem to be pursuing a batch of blue-chip recruits.
I suspect they'll land more than one when all is said and done.

You know I’ve wondered if he would take over when Barnes retires. He didn’t exactly kill it his other time as head coach so idk how I’d feel about that. But obviously he could’ve improved since then
