I mean it's a weird thing...we want Phillips to be good enough and productive enough he's a 1 & done. But it also means we'll be scrambling to find new bodies/bigs for the '23 season.

And with the transfer portal...some of the development guys we think should be here may not either. (Aidoo, Mashack, BJE, etc.)

A change to the above that I would see as most likely would be Murray starting at the 3 and JJJ at the 4 with either BHH or ON at the 5…the staff loves Murray.

Yep. Just look at Arkansas. They practically have an entirely new roster this year. That could be us in 2023-2024 if we lose JJJ/Santi/Phillips/ON/Collins/Uros to the draft or graduation, but it also means we probably had another fun season so I’ll take it.

It’s easier to “rebuild” now thanks to the portal, so just stack talent as often as you can when you can.

Your not the only poster predicting UP out of the lineup, but I think this will prove to be as poor of a take as all the posters who were saying SV wouldn’t be starting this season with the addition of KC and Powell. UP’s contributions are severely under appreciated by many on this forum.

Well I was one of the few saying he damn well may be All-SEC and wasn’t going anywhere from the lineup and I too think Plav won’t be starting 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think Uros continues to start with Aidoo coming in and getting bulk of the minutes except when they go small or have an end of game specific lineup. It's kind of like how the Bulls started Luc Longley at the beginning of each half, but you rarely ever saw him on the floor during crunch time.

I don’t think it’s necessarily “underappreciation.” It is pretty fair to say that Uros does not possess the talent ceiling that BHH or Aidoo has. If we do in fact bring in 3 highly-skilled players in Murray, Collins, and Phillips, someone is going to be left out of the rotation.

This is all just projection but you would hope and expect the guys with NBA level talent will figure it out and grow this off-season. If that happens, they will keep playing. If BHH just never has it click, then sure Uros could keep his role and maybe BHH sits.

The fact is there are only so many minutes you can spread around. I suspect Rick would play 10-12 guys in November/December to figure out what rotations work, but once SEC play hits he’s going to shrink it to 8-9 guys. Someone is sitting and right now it feels like that is Uros.

Like Mookie said it's not under appreciation it's we have 2 guys with much higher ceilings ahead of him. Aidoo and BHH are a ton more athletic than he is. And I didn't put him in the 2 deep because I don't see him playing a lot, but I could very well see him get 8 or so minutes a game. He's a good teammate and an enforcer for sure, but he's just not as athletically gifted as others.

I just gotta say that outside the static about all the different players we might sign, Phillips provides something so different than any of them. He would be such an important piece on this team. His ability to score from three levels, drive from the wing, rebound short/long, and play in transition are so needed. His scoring threat would also open up so many looks for other players. I’m sure we’ll sign an adequate guard to help lighten the load, but signing Phillips would be so huge. We’re going to know a lot more about our potential in the next few days.

Yep. Going to be a very interesting next few days. We could position ourselves to have a roster more well-rounded and better than this past year depending on how it shakes out.

I am desperately hoping we can land Phillips. He is a huge talent much like Chandler and would numb the sting a bit from losing KC.

Yes, regardless, I think we will have a good team next year, but with Phillips, Murray and a good PG, we truly would have the deepest team we've ever had. That is, assuming everyone comes back as expected.

A lot riding on the next few days.
