Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

Is there a reason that Lofton played for team USA and picked LA tech? One would’ve thought he’d be more highly recruited

His offer list was bad. Seems like a Grant Williams from a recruiting perspective. Was not in good shape coming out of high school, was listed as center but only 6”7 I think.

The group of guys that USA team had to pick from was basically the top incoming HS players and young freshman that were still 19 even though they just finished their freshman year, hence jaden Ivey, mike miles, lofton.

He's listed at 275 now on the LA Tech website.
I'd rather not the kids another EJA

Plays against much better competition. Kid is a stud

UAB - averaged a double double against them every game, not putting the stats because they are dumb

LSU - 13 points, 7 rebounds, 2 ast, 2 steals

NCST - 36 points, 17 rebounds, 4 ast, 1 block, 1 steal

and 12/9 against Bama (played 20 mins, season low)

He is likely to be a better defender, but BHH has tremendous skills. Might be the most talented player currently on the roster. Don't know the kid, but whatever is keeping him from fully developing into the best player he can be, I hope he figures it out. It would be such a waste to see his gifts waste away because of an attitude or work ethic. Might just be youth or it more likely is people in his ear. Doubt the kid would say something like that without some prompting from some in his inner circle convincing him he had leverage.

I agree. I think a coach like Pearl might get the most out of someone like him. Just focus on his good points, and minimize his weaknesses.

I’m not necessarily saying Pearl is a better coach. He just has a different style.

The sad thing about Hatfield is that he’s had a stage mom since he was twelve. When parents start seeing their kids as stocks that pay them, it starts to get creepy. I know he’s being a child, but it’s all sanctioned by mom.
Correct, I feel bad for him more than anything. He has god gifted measurements and ability that 99.9% of folks don’t, the path to a NBA career is pretty clear and these folks around him are going to manage to screw it up.

Honest question - how do you know this? R u from Clarksville?

For reference, the NEC where EJA played is typically the 3rd worst conference (out of 33) ahead of the MEAC and SWAC where those winners typically play in the play-in 16 game. CUSA where Lofton plays is on par/level - depending on year - with MWC, A10, MAC, MVC in the 12-14th range.
