Yeah, for the talent, it was worth the risk, but the risk of it blowing up always existed if BHH didn't mature. Mid-season, there looked to be some hope that he'd turned a bit of a corner, but apparently it was not sustainable.Hate to say it but BHH always felt like a square peg in a round hole personality wise with this staff. One thing i think this staff prides itself in is bringing in guys who play with consistent effort. Think they compromised on their principles a little with BHH with how talented he was, us needing a big especially badly, him being from a local aau program we have connections with. I don’t think we were necessarily his original #1 choice and I don’t think he was ours, more a relationship of necessity

They petitioned Barnes to put him in the starting lineup after ON was injured. Barnes listened to his team leaders, probably against his better judgement, to see if he could coax some of that talent out of BHH with more freedom and unwarranted playing time and status.I could have dreamed it, but I thought someone said, maybe on a broadcast, that Santi and JJJ went to Barnes and said basically “BHH” needs to play more.
Which I think means, they were willing to let someone not as bought in play because they needed his talent. But that’s me reading into it
Those two weren't post players, though. I mean Grant was used as an undersized post here, but look what he plays in the NBA. You can't sell him to a 5 star PF or C coming out of high school as a post guy you developed. Grant isn't a post, not professionally.
But he HAS turned into an outstanding 3 point shooter in the NBA, but that's all been because of the work he put in since getting to the NBA, not what he did at UT.

Wow, what a first post and user name. I'm going to, at least, wait untill Murray and Phillips make their decisions before I hit the "Panic" buttonI think we need to start considering whether or not there’s enough NIL here for basketball. We have lost out on every top option in the 22’ class and it looks more than likely we’re missing out on Phillips and Murray. I don’t think it’s a coincidence the recruiting has dropped off since NIL becoming a major thing
Not sure I trust self-proclaimed gurus. That's as crazy as someone claiming to be the Pope, or the Dalai Lama...I think we need to start considering whether or not there’s enough NIL here for basketball.
