Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

1. He was closer to 32 than 31%, rounding down just shows the narrative you’re trying to spin.

2. Gillespie at Nova makes an absolute living off doing just that…maybe you could watch the games and tell us how he went for 20 against Louisville and 18 against Purdue?

You’re nitpicking .04%. Weird energy. Still 31%.

If you think he’s going to replicate those performances against a full P6 schedule then I don’t know what to tell you. He was their go-to scorer. Obviously he’s going to score some points.

UT expects to get Collins and Key and Reneau is by far their top big man target. They are trying with Phillips but spyre is hesitant to meet his demands. This is the absolute latest I have.

I guess with a guy who committed to LSU originally this shouldn’t surprise me. Sounds like it’s time to lower my expectations there.

My view on it is that he’s better than VBjr IMO. He will provide solid depth at off guard and maybe PG in a pinch.

My hope is that Key comes in and his goal/job is to just drive to the basket and draw fouls. I think BTO said he did a good job of that, and that he was pretty good from the free throw line.

You want to say that while pointing to his shooting %…is it crazy to think that not being the go to scorer maybe his % increase???

I figure Key will be filling that Santi role when he comes in. Force his defender to guard him through screens etc. and be able to catch & shoot. He won't see quite as many minutes as Santi, but if he's able to produce on a more consistent level than Bailey/Powell we could see him get 15+ minutes playing 1-3 depending on matchup and who else is on the court.

If we land Yuri though I'd be shocked if anyone other than him or ZZ runs point...

Key 517 FTA in 114 games

Fulk 401 in 165
Vescovi 193 in 81
JJJ 150 in 84
Nkahmoua 76 in 76
Plav 79 in 67

Haven’t gone back but my guess is he draws more fouls on a per game basis than anyone going back to Grant

If somebody else is willing to pay it, and it doesn't hurt his NBA prospects, it's more than reasonable for him to take it.

That’s the balancing act though. I said this early on: guys just can’t take the highest bidder. They have to balance the instant money with the staff that will develop them and maximize their worth as a professional player. If a recruit takes the highest bidder but doesn’t get developed, then his money was just instant gratification.

11-12, imo.

Doubtful. He is a career 7.7 ppg guy. Only scored 11.1 this past season. If he keeps % up and consistently takes 8 or so shots a game like he did this last season then I could see him being in the 8-10 ppg.

Maybe our 4th or 5th leading scorer. He'd be more of a distributer, may have a game where he just has a great night and a good matchup though. Now...if he is getting & hitting more 3s than he typically was at Saint Louis that could change. He has been good for about 1.4 3PA a game for his career...if he's given the greenlight here to let 'em fly and takes 2 or 3 a game he could push to be a 11-12 a night guy.

He won't be as dynamic a scorer as KC was, and he won't shoot as many 3s as Santi though.

I'd say Santi, JJJ, ON will end up being our top 3 PPG. Unless we land one of the 5 star bigs and they are legit.

Can’t get Reneau I say get Key, Collins, Phillips, and Pack. I’d say that would be solid, and we can play small ball some. Also, just hope that ON, Aidoo, and Plavsic get even better in the off-season. If ON can give you 12pts 8rbs a game that’s a solid starter. Then off the bench Plavsic can give you 6pts 5rbs, and Aidoo 5pts and 5rbs that’s not great but it’s solid production when you have guys like Phillips and JJJ you can also play at the 4. Hope to get a post big, but if not that many good ball handlers is definitely not a bad thing.
