With freshmen guys Barnes always has the same mindset. "You want it, you earn it" he won't just start high rated recruits because they are high rated recruits. Springer & Keon for example both worked into the starting lineup. Both were drafted in the NBA and neither started 20 games here. So Edwards will have the opportunity to play, but unless he's able to really prove something he likely won't start over Santi or ZZ or Collins if he's here.
Sounds like he will be at least the 3rd option at the point. So he either doesn't play much or he gets time at the 2.
