Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

Finally got around to watching Hunters tape.

Kid looks like Davion Mitchell on offense, or even a shorter Donovan Mitchell. Very explosive and confident. His 3p% is deceiving considering he likes to shoot from the NBA line. I don't know if we'd see much drop off at all from the point position.

Pay him whatever he wants.

Well hopefully we’re not making calls based on fan reactions. The reason would be that not that our done deal Yuri fell through we need another PG and he seems like he’ll be a solid one
There’s tons of questions about if Clark will even be able to play this year due to rushing back from his Achilles injury, not sure how solid of an option he would be.

Does anyone know Hunters timeline?

I assume not for a few weeks. He is visiting Tennessee this weekend. He is visiting Gonzaga the following weekend (i.e. May 6th-8th) and he apparently is considering a Kansas visit although nothing has been set. My guess is middle of May, just based on the fact he has several visits left.

I'm sure Carson Butler has been in Rese's ear about CRB and how he developes point guards. It wouldn't surprise me if CRB somehow pulls this one off. Don't quote me though.

I’ve not heard anything on that front, Tennessee side has gotten pretty quiet since the Yuri debacle, maybe @Vols8086 or @FranklinVol16 have heard something? Just reading tea leaves I would say we at least have a chance, and aren’t just a hat on the table like with Clark. We are one of 3 schools as of now getting a visit from him, and a common theme with all 3 is a likely starting PG spot. He isn’t going to come here for free, I can pretty much guarantee that, so hopefully Tennessee has figured out whatever the issues are with NIL & Spyre before his visit.

Nothing worth mentioning. They are obviously trying there, but there are some heavy hitters recruiting Hunter. The thought is Hunter would have to really love the fit and playing time available over the NIL deals some of these other schools will offer for him (not to mention the roster fit that these other schools also can pitch) to ultimately choose us.

No real reason to be optimistic but also no real reason to be pessimistic either other than the programs recruiting him and how our April has gone up to this point.

the only area that's not true was in assist.

Kind of a big deal for a pg in a Rick Barnes offense.

And I’m not “stuck on Yuri”. You’re the one who engaged me for saying he was better so don’t get your panties in a wad for discussing it, lol.

Who engaged who first here?

I mean if you want to have a discussion I thought that's what we're doing? I like Yuri, he would have been a good fit. He's not available, so I don't see any reason continuing to discuss him as if he is.

And you replied? Don’t continue to reply if you don’t want to discuss it. Pretty simple.

Well then that’s less enticing of course. But also we dont look near as pressed for spots as we did before so we could take a redshirt (though that’s also less appetizing in the transfer portal era)
I will say it seems to me Underwood generally has had good evals so him taking Clark is evidence he’s a worthwhile take

I do realize it. This is a message board. People discuss things. You said he was better than Collins. I disagreed.

Message board working as intended.

I think Hunter will be better than Collins. You seemed to challenge that or take offense so I shared why I think that. If you disagree that's fine, but just move on. I only shared the data on Hunter to respond to why I thought he will be better than Collins.

While ignoring Kentucky cut him loose?

We’re in the same spot with Key’s shoulder, too. Now, he’s just a year guy, but - in today’s environment- seems like they’re all year guys.

And I responded to the stats you posted.

If you want to move past it simply don’t engage in the discussion, lol. I’m not forcing you to reply.
