He did. Led the team in assists all 4 years he was there and led the team in steals as a FR and SO. Cade Cunningham kind of put a wrench in his development as a JR, and then he had his worst statistical season as a SR, last year.

Not sure he's someone I'd be working hard to add. He's 2021-22 numbers took a real dip. 7.1 ppg, 3.4 apg, 4.0 rpg, 1.2 spg, 43.7% FG, 18.2% 3-pt FG, 53.6% FT.

Likekele can't shoot, but he's a menace defender, good rebounder, and can function as a primary ball handler. He could be a fun add. I wouldn't hate it.

Yea I don’t know that it moves the needle a ton but I think it would be a solid backup plan and beats am empty spot

Josh Mballa from Buffalo entered the portal. Won the conferences DPOY. Know we probably need a guard, but a very talented big.

Yeah, it’s a bit odd. I’m not sure what the plan is. Other than Phillips and Hunter I’m not sure who were even in contact with and shown interest in. Both of those are LONG shots to land, too. So, assuming we whiff on both, I will be fascinated to see who else we’re talking to.

I wish VQ would get back from their vacation and provide some info on what is happening with basketball.

I think they’ve got real interest in Likekele as a backup option to Hunter, Michael-Wright could be slotted into that discussion as well I would assume as I don’t see them taking 2 of any of those. I think they are still kicking things around with Phillips and maybe wanting to see what he has to say after he visits Auburn. It feels a bit like there’s some unknown, maybe international post type, but that’s just a feeling not any info.

Likekele does not excite me. Seems very meh. Admittedly, I'm no expert.


But I'd think we could do better.

I’m glad you said that because I was about to say we should fire Barnes if he doesn’t get the exact transfer player you wanted. But now I know better 👍🏻

Yea there’s been some positive vibes coming from Tennessee side which is why I posted what I did, not that it’s done or I’m confident, but Tennessee wants to see where he’s at post visit I believe.

I guess this is a victory if that is his true feelings when he leaves Auburn tomorrow. If he hasn’t committed to them by the time he is officially on his way home, we might still have a chance. Still think Auburn wins out in the end.

This is my general thought as well. The fact that Tennessee is being mentioned with them at this point makes me cautiously optimistic we still have a shot tho.

Maybe it speaks more to the tone of this board that if they don’t get the number one target, firing Barnes is on the table. A few days ago everyone assumed we were getting Collins and a lot of people were ambivalent, then he stays in St Louis and a lot of the same people are melting down and saying Barnes has no backup options/plan. Then we have a visit set up with Hunter out of nowhere. Almost like he’s working on stuff constantly that doesn’t make it onto this board.

We've been discussing it. As far as I'm aware, only a couple of posters, mostly trolls, have actually entertained the idea of firing Barnes. We've discussed when he might retire, but given he's an old school coach, and old school coaches aren't fond of the current changes, that's a valid discussion. The only reason I added my addendum to begin with is because some overreact to any criticism.
