I've seen mostly Texas and Louisville regarding Hunter.

I haven't kept up the last couple of days too much, anything new on Lofton?

Yea it’s definitely noteworthy, I haven’t heard anything on confidence level changing but I do wonder if you land a guy like Phillips if that changes things any.

Yea Louisville was getting tons of smoke, but them not getting a visit would seemingly eliminate them…hasn’t seemed like Tennessee has been able to get Lofton interested enough to visit to this point.

Yeah, the Louisville stuff seems like wishful thinking by their reporters, at least as of today. I don’t see how you visit 4 schools and then select the one school you did NOT visit. Especially when could visit there if he wanted.

Yea at this point I definitely don’t think Louisville is in play if they aren’t visiting, but there was definitely smoke around him and Louisville from many national folks, not just local.

Seems like Gonzaga is pushing for McCullar.

Kansas seems to have moved on to Mosley.

After reading other forums this morning and reading the posts on here, it seems like Louisville is no longer an option.

Guess it really is down to us or Texas. (Mookie said Texas guys have said this, I also saw a Creighton guy on Twitter say the same, but he could have just seen other reports)

My pitch against Texas is that Chris Beard's system limits players' ability to shine. It's hard to put up eye-catching numbers in a system designed to limit possession and grind opponents. Culver and Zhaire Smith have been his only significant draft picks, and they've both busted.

If I’m a PG, Barnes’ track record would be a lot more appealing to me than that of Chris Beard. I’m sure Texas will also guarantee him a starting role, something Barnes won’t do, but it doesn’t take a genius to connect the dots with Kennedy Chandler leaving and our need for a replacement.

Still, Zeiglar’s presence alone might scare him off even though I think he’d start Day 1 if he chose Tennessee.

If this was already posted previously, I apologize, but I read on another teams forum (don't remember which site) but a couple of posters said Hunter had a $750k NIL deal on the table at UNC.

Do you guys think he would be worth that? I only ask because if I remember correctly UNC were the leaders early, and I wonder if true, if that's what it will take to get him and if we would do that

It’s hard for me to say what any player is “worth” without having any idea what Spyre’s budget is or having a really solid idea what other players are making. I would really really really like Hunter to be a Vol though, FWIW

It was said Hunter told VQ that NIL wasn’t important to him and he was looking at many other things above NIL, so I’m not sure that is true. UNC didn’t happen because they had guards return.

Hunter sounds old school, would be hard to pass up more money if the teams you are choosing from are all winners and have what you are looking for academically

Man, I really want Phillips and Jefferson. Of course, everybody wants Phillips. Jefferson plays good defense, which always helps with Barnes. I can see Jefferson playing a Mashack role or even passing him, next year. Just the kinda player I love, 6'5 athletic, can dunk on you, shoot from 3, gets steals and blocks. Just a late signing period steal, imo
