Man, Duke‘s class is sick.

And I thought they may fall off a bit with Coach K retiring. Duke is Duke so they will always recruit. I still recall when they were a no name school (n sports) until Coach K. I despise Duke and not a Coach K fan but he was a heck of a recruiter and coach.

On Hunter: He was never going to NC. There was never a 750k NIL offer there. There is a Spyre package for him, and it IS something that makes a difference. I appreciate what digital reporters bring to up to the minute needs of a modern readership, but the desire to be first means they often skip the “check your source” part of the equation.

If I were betting on this one, I’d bet on Texas, but wouldn’t put us far behind. We have a real shot. As with Phillips we have an organized plan that is impressive to him and his family. It really nice to have a great coaching staff supported by a competent AD, and an organization that is operating in the present on NIL. It’s a night and day comparison with the ghosts of AD past. At the very least, we’re finally sitting at the grownups table.

I was a huge UNC fan as a kid living in Roanoke, VA in the 80’s. UVA -UNC was the biggest rivalry til Coach K came to Duke. I went to a basketball camp @ Campbell college in Buies Ck, NC. It was cool to meet Johnny Dawkins and David Henderson, two outstanding Duke players.

I lived in Raleigh 1997-2000 and heard a ton of stories about Coach K.

Yes. The sole reason he got a flurry of offers and jumped in rank was his performance at Iverson Classic. That is not reflected in his current 247 rank.

If we miss on Hunter, I suspect they’ll either keep the scholly open or try to find another diamond in the rough this summer like we did with ZZ in late August. Personally, if we don’t get Hunter, I hope we just keep it open for 2023.

I’m not certain. That is what the others in the know have said. I haven’t heard a single other name in consideration.

That's going to suck. I wish at least the PG version of Tyreke Key was out there to help us out for one year. Lot of pressure on ZZ and BJE.
