Since player development has been talked about on here amongst many other things let’s look at that. This roster is the majority of the previous staff’s players who were freshman when change was made. In 2017 teams BA finished about .258 and ERA was 3.98 overall. If you look at numbers this season from pretty much same guys with the addiction of some other good players the increase in numbers is minimal. Yes the win total has climbed, that team only won 27 games but that’s what usually happens when players gain experience. Plus let’s look around the conference and both South Carolina and Kentucky have fallen away from success. In 2017 Tennessee went 1-5 against those two schools and this year 5-1. So just that four game swing has made the difference in overall wins. So we can talk player development all we want but to me the East conference has weakened and Tennessee has improved luckily because of experience from a deep freshman class 3 years ago. Go Vols!
