Tennessee vs Florida Game 1 Thread - 6:30

Bottom line is. It doesn’t matter who he goes to right now. Bobody is getting outs. Stallings has had unbelievable year but the fact is he had a 9-2 lead and gave up 6 runs. Lingo the week before blew it after a 7-0 lead. Managers for in game decisions get far more credit when they win and too much blame when they lose. Judging a coach in college is on his full body of work of building a program. Facts are under CTV recruiting has elevated and his player development has been really good. Lots of season left to be played. This team can still make a regional. I expect a really good outing from Crochet today. CTV I think will have his guys ready to play today. Go Vols!

Since player development has been talked about on here amongst many other things let’s look at that. This roster is the majority of the previous staff’s players who were freshman when change was made. In 2017 teams BA finished about .258 and ERA was 3.98 overall. If you look at numbers this season from pretty much same guys with the addiction of some other good players the increase in numbers is minimal. Yes the win total has climbed, that team only won 27 games but that’s what usually happens when players gain experience. Plus let’s look around the conference and both South Carolina and Kentucky have fallen away from success. In 2017 Tennessee went 1-5 against those two schools and this year 5-1. So just that four game swing has made the difference in overall wins. So we can talk player development all we want but to me the East conference has weakened and Tennessee has improved luckily because of experience from a deep freshman class 3 years ago. Go Vols!

The pitching has relied heavily on that class, but the offense is pretty evenly balanced. Ferguson, Soularie, Rucker, Gray, Pavolony, Martinez, and Scott are all Vitello guys. Crochet was a nice get on the mound.

100% not true. Vitello makes the calls
OK! As every head coach he is the bottom line. Does that satisfy you hard heads! He makes out the lineup and Frank sits over every day and scratches his arse. If he should happen to say Tony I don't think that Jackson should get this relief under these circumstances and according to you guys Tony tells Frank I am the head coach and f you I am going with JACKSON. He goes with JACKSON or whoever and then he is 100% making the call. He might as well as well give the batboy the pitching coach title. Any coach who does not listen to the PC is screwed. Now I agree to disagree!

Bottom line: Let’s just win today and tomorrow. Those kids work extremely hard and I believe they give everything they have. No one feels worse about what has happened the past two SEC games than they do. Doesn’t always work out, but I’m not throwing in the towel just yet. Go Vols!

Your post said “Anderson has COMPLETE CONTROL of the pitchers”. That is what I was referring to as not true. I am simply saying that Vitello makes the final calls. Obviously, he gets input from Anderson. No one has said otherwise. But it’s ultimately his call.

Amen. This team isn’t dead yet. Win 2 and back to being in good shape

Ok then as I said bottom line he gets paid more and he is headcoach. Complete control does not mean to me he tells a pitcher to pitch ! Enough of the semantics . Play ball!!
