Tennessee vs Florida Game 1 Thread - 6:30

Finding new ways to lose now. After a 9-9 start, 1-6 in the last 7. That Ark series likely broke them.

Up 7 at home and lose the 7 run lead in 1 single, up 9 3 and lose 10 to 9, in the last 3 games lost 2 games in the bag. Good thing UT has lost 1 bad game all year. RPI will be top 20 barring the last non conferece game. UT could be 10 and 20 if they lose the last 5 conferece games with #1 SOS and still be top 20 to 25. When has any power 5 been top 20 to 25 without a bid the tourney? With chances in the SEC tourney.

Today is such a huge game. It's a long season and you hate to say this is make or break, but they need to take these last two. Really need some confidence going into the old miss series to get the mojo back for Hoover.

Just once I’d like to see a UT team nut up and fight through adversity and come out stronger on the other end. Seems like In every sport every year the second something doesn’t go Tennessee’s way we just shrivel up and die. I mean if these dudes had any clutch in them the last thing they would do after blowing a 7 run lead in their last sec game would be to do it again the very next sec game. That tells me all I need to know about the mental makeup of this team.

Alex, I am going to have to stop you right there. This loss along with over half the losses this year is 100 percent on Tony Vitello. If anybody on this thread thinks he is the answer you have no knowledge of baseball. DO NOT BLAME THIS ON THE PLAYERS. He is hands down the worst on-field baseball coach I have ever seen in my many years of playing/watching the game. He is screwing these kids over left and right. Why would you put in Jackson who has never pitched in that sort of scenario in 5 YEARS! Putting players in no position to succeed, bringing in your top arm out of the pen, Shultz, to pitch one batter? One top of that the one batter was a lefty and you have Heflin who is a lefty/lefty matchup dream just sitting there. Who is to say Shultz wouldn't strike the next guy out on 3 pitches like he has done many times. I just really hope all of you understand that this is not the players fault. Tony Vitello is the problem and will continue to be the reason this team loses games.

Tony is the head man but I have heard him say Anderson has complete control of the pitchers.

:confused::(OK, so you hate CTV. All those victories were accidental. Growing pain, that's all.

Growing Pain??? Please expand on that.... This guy has mismanaged so many aspects of the game all year long. The management of the bullpen is an absolute travesty to watch.

You’re so far off base. The job he has done to have us at this point is incredible. The 2 best prospects on this team are his recruits. Players make players. Pitchers aren’t getting anyone out. It doesn’t matter who they are throwing out there. Managers look great when pitchers get outs when they don’t they look bad.

Big Vitello guy? It is about putting your players in positions to succeed, he is very very poor at that. That is really not up for a debate, you can either watch the game and tell or you cant.

Do you not agree with the mismanagement of the bullpen last night at least? You failed to hit on any of the points I made in regards to last nights game.

No I honestly didn’t. The pitchers have to get outs. Jackson deserved a chance because others have shown they can’t. He didn’t deliver. Having a longer leash on Schultz is hindsight yes you’re correct he could have struck out 3 he also could have walked 3. They need to throw strikes he had to go to Walsh who has been his best reliever all year long.

Fair points.... I just am not a fan of the way he is using these kids and treating them. Must just be me.

You have a right to your opinion. I think he is going to look a lot better when all of his recruits are in to be honest. Players make coaches look good or bad. We all are very good managers when we know the results.

Bottom line is. It doesn’t matter who he goes to right now. Bobody is getting outs. Stallings has had unbelievable year but the fact is he had a 9-2 lead and gave up 6 runs. Lingo the week before blew it after a 7-0 lead. Managers for in game decisions get far more credit when they win and too much blame when they lose. Judging a coach in college is on his full body of work of building a program. Facts are under CTV recruiting has elevated and his player development has been really good. Lots of season left to be played. This team can still make a regional. I expect a really good outing from Crochet today. CTV I think will have his guys ready to play today. Go Vols!

"...hands down worst on-field baseball coach I have ever seen..."??? You must not have been around when Todd Raleigh was making out the line-up cards.
