Tennessee vs. Kentucky - Official Game thread - 9:00pm EST ESPN

Let me see if i've have this straight , I love Tigers BB . Does this mean I cant be a Vols FB fan ? Why would this be wrong ?
It's got a distinct frontrunner feel to it, but to each his own. I'd be a lot more apt to understand you than someone named "Vols4life".

I've got a buddy over in Obion and he lives TN. football and Kentucky basketball. I've known him for 20+ years and it's always been the same. I think this happened when TN was the laughing stock of the sec in BB and he was a BB fan and the fact that Kentucky were winners plus they were the next state over ,he chose them as his team .

I used to pull for the Vols football team and MEMPHIS BB team , but I worked with a guy who was loud and obnoxious and a HUGE TN fan . It is soley b/c of him that I quit watching college fb . I dont care who wins in college fb , so if one of my TN. friends comes over and wants to watch it , then i'll pull for them. As far as TN BB as long as their not ranked ahead of the TIGERS i'm pulling for them . I dont believe anyone has the right to tell anyone else who they should pull for unless they just bought the rights to the other persons opinion.

Someone who actually understands

Memphis is hardly a mortal conference enemy. UK is and there's no debate about it. Vol fans tend to hate UK hoops so reconciling your frontrunning is simply impossible for most, myself included.

The thing is most of yall grew up hating UK basketball not me I didn't grow up in Tennessee so I don't feel the same way yall do about UK basketball

I've spent the majority of my life outside the state of Tennessee. I figured it out.:good!:

Not growing up in the state is no excuse. I was born in TN but my parents moved to Florida when I was 9 and trust me I always hated Florida, Kentucky, and Bama and I would never root for them in any sport.

Sounds like this discussion about the tale of liking two teams in two different sports yells for a separate thread.

I wonder if this guy is one of those types that is a New England Pats fan in football, but a New York Yankees fan in baseball. OUCH

I don't know about liking two teams in two different sports in the same conference. There is an uncomfortable feel to it.

I was born and raised here in Kentucky. Resident for 37 years and counting. I hate any UK athletics. Tennessee Volunteers through and through.

I, too, have lived in Kentucky for most of my life.

I, too, despise said Wildcats, above all others.

It is really going to blow your mind when I tell you I hold two degrees from Vanderbilt.
I'd say the self-righteous and self proclaimed basketball genius fans are a huge part of that equation as well. The entitlement mentality sucks for our country in terms of spending, but it's dramatically worse in a pile of uneducated, homeristic fans.

It isn't the reason I'm not a fan, but it is about 80% of the reason that my non-fandom developed into outright hatred. As insufferable as they are on the internet, they are worse in person by a factor of 10.

If you live in Kentucky and you don't love the Blue, any sane person will learn to hate them as a matter of course. And much to my wife's chagrin, I do.

Why would that make you hate UK? If you lived in Kentucky as long as you did you would figure you would support UK, did you just not like the huge following they have, the color blue? What? because if you went to school at Vanderbilt you would figure the last thing you would follow would be UT basketball.

I have been all over the country and you get that in most states except the ones that have professional teams. You can find that same ignorance no matter where you go.
UK fans aren't the only ones that are "insufferable", you should try going on UK's forum, there are trolls from UT, Florida, Minnesota, and whoever the cats are playing that week.
