Tennessee will be ranked in top 25 by third game

If we are 4-2 after the chatt game, I will be pleased. Just two more wins for a bowl should be doable at that point. Need to upset Florida Georgia or Oklahoma.

I strongly believe we'll be 4-2 after Chat. Lose the next 3 to Ole Miss, Bama, and S Car, and finish out beating Ky, Mizzou, and Vandy to finish 7-5.

I'm not sure if beating Oklahoma will put us in the top 25 because it's still early in the season. It might be that Oklahoma is actually not as good as people thought.

BUT if we beat Georgia with a 4-0 record... you better believe will be in the top 25.

Oklahoma is a playoff team and we're not. Merge to the "bold prediction/unrealistic" thread.

A) Ok will be a 2 loss team. They are not in the right conference to make the playoffs with 2 losses.

B) He never said we would win the game. So I fail to see how your smart arse comment about merging the thread makes any sense what so ever.

Did you actually even read the OP?

A close loss should boost them but the law of rankings forbids it. Remember when #1 and #2 LSU BAMA game Bama did nothing to prove they weren't the #2 team yet still dropped. People of the polls put too much stock in the loss column. #22 may take #1 to the wire but will stil drop out of the top 25. Its stupid.

You mean oklahoma 70
Tennessee 3

Love my vols but at least I'm not delirious ...

If this is your prediction:

1) You ARE delirious, in a negative way.

2) Have serious doubts about your love for my Vols.

3) If your post was an attempt at humor, stick to your day job.

The Vols will probably have about 12 votes to be in the top 25 after game 2 unless a bunch of the top 25 teams choke. After game 3, I'd love to be ranked, but we'll probably receive no votes :(

Not by beating Utah State and Arky State.

I remember a recent Tennessee team that never beat a single ranked opponent and yet went into the third game rankedÂ… a team, moreover, coached by a loser that went 0-19 against ranked opponents.

Early season rankings are almost meaningless and, when they are meaningful, it's often a reflection of the network seeking ratings.

Even if by some divine intervention we beat Oklahoma, we will not be top 25 simply because of the number of teams that will also be 3-0 and where we started in the polls. We wouldn't crack the top 25 unless we start 5-0 with a win over UGA, but this is all so stupid, we're not starting 5-0 anyway.

We will go undefeated in all of the games that we win, and we will be ranked number 1 in the delusional minds of the offseason.

They might let us sneak into Top 25 as it would be better for TV ratings.

We have a long way to go from zero votes and a lot of teams to pass in two short weeks.

Not one person on VN can ever, ever say anything about the delusions of others teams fans

I think its a common ailment of fans of teams that were once great but have fallen on hard times.....to them we're always one recruiting class and one offseason away from being "back", totally ignoring the actual state of the program, the health of programs that are on our schedule, and how long it actually takes to resurrect a team in the SEC.

0% chance we're top 25 after beating Utah State and Arkansas state. Beat Okla, sure. Lose by a point, not a chance of being ranked.

After the Chattanooga game hopefully with a 4-2 record...maybe.

Get real.

I think it's just fans being fans during the offseason when every team is 0-0 with a fresh start...I also think most of the posters to VN that give seemingly delusional predictions are doing it in jest to get a funny reaction - like a reverse troll.

Ainge did a team breakdown of USU. I don't think its going to be close at all. Their only weapon is a qb coming off of injury. However, your logic is accurate.

I question strongly if the coaches will even tell Keeton to go full speed. His skill set is worrisome, but is risking his knee in game 1 worth losing him before conference play even begins? We would be a much more excusable loss for them than if he goes down and it costs them a weaker game or two on their schedule. Also, will he overcome that mental aspect of recovery in game 1, on the road, in Neyland in potentially one of the loudest environments they've ever played in, when someone like AJ Johnson or Curt Maggitt is looking to level him? Time will tell.
