there's an old coaching adage that says "live by the three die by the three".
Teams can fall in love with it and sometimes it dictates their success or failure. A well-balanced offense is key. A point guard a shooter a small forward who can play pretty much all five positions a power forward and Center...you got those five spots covered you're going to win.
Nowdays I think 4 out of 5 of your players on the court need to be able to bury a wide open 3. If not, it takes a lot of stress off the opposing defense. Not having the threat of an outside game can destroy your penetration/inside game. This has plagued us in recent years.
There should be a new adage: "If you're under 6'4" and you can't shoot, do not recruit."
