I'll save this post so if that's where we end up regular season you can't go on a, we should've been better tirade.

If we only lose 4 more games I'll be pleased at this point. I'll take 22-9. I don't see that happening though.

And anything you want to try and call a tirade is well warranted. There is zero excuse for a team with this kind of talent and experience to lose to that type of team at home last night. None. You can excuse it, ignore it, or sugarcoat it and say we're still in all the bracket projections, but at the end of the day, that is a horrible loss that should not happen if you have a coach and team that knows what the hell they are doing.

So no decent coach has ever lost a game to a bad team when he had a talented and experienced team? Is that what you're saying?

Multiple times? Every season? No good coach worth his salt does it every single year and still misses the NCAA tourney. Some coaches can lose games like that and afford themselves some leeway because of what they've done in the past and what they will do the rest of the year. Martin has none of those to fall back on because he hasn't done either one. I could maybe excuse it if he had, but he hasn't.

Sugarcoat that loss all you want. It was inexplicable.

So if he makes the dance comfortably, he's earned this leeway and the benefit of the doubt going into next year?

He gets some benefit of the doubt. But he isn't making the dance comfortably. That would take too many wins and too much consistency. Something none of his teams have ever done. If he did, it would be the first time. Ever.

How come you never look at the big picture? This isn't about losing one game, although it does add fuel to the fire, but it's about Martin's tenure as a whole.

What has he done to this point that has you excited about the future?
Do you not think there are plenty of coaches out there that could do great things with this team?

How do you think CCM will fare next year without Maymon, Mcrae, and possibly Stokes?

I understand that we should support the current coaches and I will root for them to succeed, but I just don't see it. If they can't do well this year with the amount of talent and experience they have, then how can we as a fan base have confidence that they can get it done beyond this year?

If you noticed my post did say "if".

There's a lot of time left before the tournament but so far this team is grossly underachieving. No excuse for yesterday, that was simply grasping defeat from the jaws of victory.

What has he done to give any hope? He has improved from year 1 to year 2, and so far from year 2 to year 3. If that trend continues through this year, and we continue to improve and make the dance, is that not something to be happy about?

As for do I think there's another coach? Sure. Do I have faith that Hart would come out and throw down big money to make a Homerun hire, hell no. I think he probably goes the mid major route and hires a young coach, not much different than Martin.

I've said since before the season, and said since, that if he misses the tourney he should be gone. Do I need to say it every minute for people to comprehend that?

Answer your question?

Let me make clear that's my opinion, my opinion is also hart will retain him for the final year of his contract.

He's in year 3 of a 5 year deal. His final contract year is 2015-16.

But I agree with what you're saying. Hart isn't going to fire him this spring. I'm convinced of that.

Interesting I was thinking it was 4, would he get a buyout if fired after next year?

True. But most posters complaining know nothing about basketball and never liked Martin anyway.

I'm tired of hearing comments like this. I really like Martin, however I just am tired of the way he coaches. The more I see the more I think he is out of his league. I hope they turn it around and prove me wrong but am not holding my breath

Yea like his last year when he won 19 games right? And how do you know? McRae and Maymon did nothing under Bruce. How do you know what he would have done with sanctions looming and losing all his starters?

Because Bruce proved he can motivate and out coach teams we had no business beating. He knew how to beat his conference rivals. He owned Donovan. He knew how to put his teams in winning positions in close games....Cuonzo just seems in over his head sometimes....and his personality seems flat....which his teams seem like a lot too. Reflection of him on the court perhaps :dunno:

With that said....I really do like Zo and truly want him to succeed...just don't see what is needed to take us to the next level with him at the helm.

Yes. If fired in April 2014 he gets $1.62 million. If fired in April 2015 he gets $810k

Hmmm a booster could easily cover the extra 800k, not sure why there's much reason not to pull the trigger after this year if that's the route Hart wants to go.

I just don't think he would pay $1.62 and then go pay another coach's buyout. Now Ben Howland would be the wild card.
