Hat, if you have already posted your opinion on this, I apologize. But I was curious to see what you had to say on the 9 seed and if you thought it was too low.

Considering James Anderson was in high school when those games were played and Sean Sutton was the OK State coach, I don't see the relevance of either of those games.

possibly beat is Pitt. We'd have NO chance against Louiville or UNC, little chance against uconn--but for some reason i'm not sold on pitt. They've consistently underachieved in the tourney. They're better than the Vols, but if UT gets past ok.state--50-50--at least UT can try to take pitt out of its game with uptempo play.

no they can't. Blair and Young will feast off Levance Fields who will be doing whatever he wants at the PG position. He just might get a triple double.

I don't know that UT has the advantage at any position against Pitt.

Pretty much what I was thinking. Maybe ETSU could make some impossible run and beat Pitt.

Fields is a good pg but he isn't all that quick. We have a chance if we get past ok state. Which we should because our guys will be pissed off. Anything can happen. That is why the game is played. This team has shown their potential and who knows, maybe they are out to make a statement. Pitt is by far the best 1 seed we could have drawn. At least we don't have to go against Ty Lawson and Hansborough or Andre McGee and Earl Clark from Louisville. Not to mention A.J. Price and Thabeet. By far we got a better matchup out of the 4 #1 seeds.

UT could handle Hansborough (assuming the refs didn't baby him too much) much easier than Young and Blair. The only worse 1 seed UT could have drawn was Louisvile. UT wouldn't get the ball past midcourt against the Cards.

I guess I'll throw my 2 cents.

I think some of you guys are giving Byron Eaton and Levance Fields way too much love. Both of these guys are good, but they're not Toney Douglas good, I think he's the best guard I've seen play this year.

Neither of these guys are tall, and neither are all that quick. I don't think the matchup is that bad for Maze or Tabb, they just have to play smart.

we have to guard the 3 ! thats about it !

we match up well with both these teams, they struggle against the more long athletic teams, such as Pitt struggled with Louisville length and athleticism.
if we play solid as a team, make shots, there is no doubt in my mind we can make it to the sweet 16 !

Pitt is by far the worst #1 seed.. they are really inconsistent. if we box out blair, and guard Fields good, we Will upset them

OK. State is who i'm really worried about tho.

UT can't handle Hansborough IMO. He tore us up in MSG 2 yrs ago. Granted that was a long time ago and Wheezy has improved as well as Hansborough has. He is UNC's all-time leading scorer for a reason. Maze has played against Eaton before so maybe that gives us an advantage. Fields on the other hand is just short and chubby but he can play some ball at the 1 spot and control a team. He isn't the type of guy that will just "blow" by you.

Uhhh no. Pitt is everything we want to avoid if we wanted to make a run.

If you gave Tennessee two things: Levance Fields and Pitt's guts, we'd be a top two line seed.

Sorry all but if the team that played on Sunday comes anywhere near the gym we will not see the second round...That team was slow, no intensity at all, and JP looked like he had no idea late...The team that showed up first 2 rounds of the SEC tourney then we get to Pitt but that is it and only if that team shows up...Anyone that thinks we have a shot has obviously not been watching this team sober anyway

I like the fact that OK State doesn't play anyone over 6'6 any significant minutes. While Tyler and Wayne didn't show up yesterday, that was against the best shot blocker in the country. And one of the best in the history of our league.

Wayne and Tyler do one thing well. They can exploit the hell out of some mismatches. While OK State may have an advantage at the guard position, we can easily neutralize that with our rebounding and inside out game of Smith and Chism.

If we can get Anderson matched up with Tyler, I believe in him to make things happen and be able to defend the smaller player and hopefully draw some fouls.

As far as Pitt...obviously we didn't want to draw them, but I agree with some others on here. They are the 1 seed I'd have to pick to play. They are a little banged up at several positions and they don't have an extreme advantage in height. I know Blair is a tremendous offensive rebounder but Tennessee wasn't too terrible either.

What scares me is a big shot blocker and full court pressure. And playing at a team's home away from home. Pitt has none of those advantages in Dayton, while UConn has Thabeet who would eat us alive in the middle, UL has that tremendous length and pressure, and UNC is playing in Greensboro where they are unbeatable- except against Wake and Duke.

Do we have decent odds against Pitt? No. I'd put it at 20%, 30% if we put our best game together. But those are better odds than I'd put on any other 1 seed.

Yeah, Pitt isn't better than UCONN. That's why they beat them twice.
