Tennessee's very own Benedict Arnold

While that is way over the top for whatever was being discussed at that time, I think he has a legitimate argument on this one. Everyone talks about 'Tee don't owe us ****' but in turn we don't owe Tee **** at this point either. He had his shot to come here. If we ever get this university turned around, I don't want to see him trying to gravy train off of it when it benefits him.

Another popular comment tends to be the 'he gave us all for us' as opposed to what? He got a full ride college scholarship to play for a then white hot university in the 90s to showcase his abilities and make some scratch on the next level. What was he did that was so above and beyond heroic during his time here?

I'm not saying he's a bad guy, but the Tee worship is way over the top. Just like he made a business decision, a business decision should be made to keep him coming back to UT seeing as though it would show weakness and desperation on our part.

Neo should've worded his OP more like this.

A.J.'s ring says, "Hello."

Well, that's a horrible example. Any of the 2011 Bama team roster can make that claim. Anyone with 2 eyes would realize a dominant running game and defense is why Bama and UT won the National Championship.

That being said, Tee did make big plays in that Championship year, and if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have won a title that year. But to act is if he is the sole reason makes me think too many of you were drunk by the end of the 1 st quarter and didn't even see the games in 1998.

I wasn't claiming he won them the game.

Well said in both posts. I am not bothered that he didn't come, it is the fact that he played us in the process to stay with the last guy that played us probably as bad as anyone has ever been played. I hope your explanation goes over better than mine.

To those that think he "had to come and interview", he didn't have to drag his entire family with him. A low key visit without the posse would have been WAY more acceptable if he was going to stay with Spliffin.

I wasn't claiming he won them the game.

Sorry, just re-read your post. And I don't have any stats to back this up, but Tee actually was the reason we won several games our championship season. Syracuse comes to mind. The game he broke the NC AA completion % in a game vs South Carolina comes to mind as well.

Again, you don't anything regarding why the family came out with him. Why are you slamming him? And maybe he really had interest, with no intention to "play" Tennessee. You don't know. Quit acting like everyone is out to sabotage the program. Unless they actually say "We had no intention to come here, we just wanted to f*** with the program", then you have no justification whatsoever.

Just FYI, Martin was only about 9 of 24 in the Syracuse game...

Martin was just another failed staffing decision and PR move by Hart.

I seriously doubt that Jones was that interested in him to begin with given the lack of ties but Hart assigned Jones to try to add some more Orange flavor to the proceedings.

Hart gave Martin a low ball offer and showed a complete lack of class by not even offering him a damned ride from the airport. This program has ignored him twice when he was looking for a job and we had openings.

I don't blame Martin one bit for what he did. The fact that yet another attempted coaching search was handled miserably by Hart and turned into an embarrassment should surprise no one.

Did Tee announce that he was coming here to interview. Nope when he got here we started cummin in our pants and posting pics and calling every radio show we could to tell them how we got Tee. He turned us down respectfully. We got all bent out of shape and made a frickin spectacle. He didn't embarrass us. We did it to ourselves. Hell the only reason he was interviewed was we all screamed BJ better get Tee.

Entirely possible the op is right but there are a lot of possibilities otherwise. More goes into a decision than money. Our fans might be a little too passionate for some families. Tee might not have got a good vibe about the situation. A lot of short sided opinions being thrown around when honestly anything is possible

Yes, he helped win us a NC championship. I was a huge fan. Thanks for the memories

But noow let's fast forward to today...no longer a huge fan. Thanks for screwing us in front of the whole nation jackass.

Guy is either a moron or played us for a raise.

First thing he don't fly all the way here, under these circumstances, with your family, only to turn down the job.

Second don't say you gave your word to Kiffin (the man who screwed us) and that you didn't want to break your promise to "those" kids when anyone following you knows you walked out on Kentucky and broke your word there.

You had three options.

1) Politely decline and say you are happy there and never travel here in the first place

2) Take the job here and help us right this ship and get things going again.

3) Travel here, make up a lie as an excuse to stay there, and let the whole world know Kiffin got us again and even our guy who won the NC doesn't want to be here.

You chose option 3 and for that I say thanks for the memories Benedict Arnold.

Congratulations OP, that's 3 months worth of message board stupidity conveniently crammed into 1 post.

Just another FYI, he had about a 50 yard run on third and long in the 4th quarter that led to a td that put us back in the lead. And then led us on the game winning drive later in the quarter.

Just curiuos NEOCON would you call Tee a Benedict Arnold or anything else deragorory to his face? Or are you just posting this because you feel safe typing something on the Internet.

Did you watch the game? or just look at a box score? If you watched the game, you would know that Tee broke off a big run on 3 and 10 to flip the field in the 4th. And on the same drive threw a go ahead TD. Again, Tee made big plays in the 4th to take over and win that game for Tennessee.

A lot of people seem to lean on this face to face nonsense, as if it gives any credibility to their comment. Is Tee some 6'5" 300lb badass we don't know about? Maybe you don't think a poster would say something to a former players face because you wouldn't have the ....mustard to say something to someone's face.

Per Jimmy Hyams-Tee was leveraging UT to make 500k a year. Was supposed to have a meeting with Coach Jones Monday night but no showed. Source claims Tee was never planning on leaving Southern Cal.

Can't believe I'm citing him, but he's been more spot than anyone here of late.
