Tennessee's very own Benedict Arnold

So what would you say if you found out they just didn't get along?
And from a media standpoint Tee didn't blow this up!! I'm sure he wanted the situation to be as low key as possible. That will never happn in Knoxville.

If he can't get along with butch but can kiffin how does that make u feel about him?

you know...the Guy who left us in the middle of the night...yeah that kiffin.

I've never met Kiffen!! Hell, for that matter I've never met Jones!! Nor, have I met Martin. I don't like what Kiffen did to UT, But it it didn;t take a genius to figure out as soon as the USC job came open, he was gonna bolt. Nobody knew Carroll was up to his shananagan's and was going to leave USC so soon, but had Carrol decided to leave after the 2012 season(for example) Kiffen would be gone now anyway leaving us in the same spot.

Bottom line, it doesn't matter what Kiffen did...Jones and Martin may not have gotten along? Maybe, just maybe, if you met them both, you might like Kiffen better than Jones?? So would I question your fan loyalty? Probably not!!

And the media created this circus....Not Tee.

52 and counting now.

Then there are 52 idiots out there that agree with your idiotic stance.

I am still here too. Willing to take the heat to stand up for the fans who have had enough.

Had enough of what? You're acting like Tee is some kind of criminal here and that he has somehow disrespected UT. That couldn't be further from the truth.

I didn't start this thread and run.

I meant what I said...and I am not alone in my feelings.

Just because you aren't alone doesn't mean you are correct. It simply means that there are others out there that struggle with thinking.

TN deserved better...even by Tee.

Tee didn't do anything wrong here. The mouth breathers that are bashing him, tweeting him, and trashing him are the ones that don't get it. Just because he didn't "come home" doesn't mean he doesn't have love for UT. Furthermore, it doesn't make him a "Benedict Arnold". Tee has his and his family's best interests at heart, just as he should. Obviously, a lot of people were disappointed that Tee didn't return to The Hill, but you and the 52 that liked your post are simply bitter. The problem is that you don't have the balls to admit it.

You ever hate a poster so much you can't put them on ignore because you want to keep track of the crap they keep spewing? That's where Im at with the O.P. I would pay Dick Chaney half my salary to take him hunting.

It's called codependency...

Nah, the sad part is that what you and others don't understand is that it isn't the fact that he didn't come, it's the way that he did it. If you think the national media doesn't pay attention to it, why were we the laughing stock during our coaching search.....Want Ads for a coach. Anything that even looks like a slight by a noted former player can and WILL be used against us recruiting. Everyone wanted to ***** about CDD being an idiot and making us look bad and then one of the "former heroes" thumbs his nose at us in a very IMAGE DAMAGING way and that Ok? The people that think that the way that he did this is ok are the ones that are making our fan base look stupid, not the ones that think it was a crappy thing to do to his (and MY) Alma Mater.

He was asked to come interview, he did, brought his family (maybe they wanted a little mini vacation, maybe Tee wanted to try to convince her to come, who knows), he (or Davis) decided that it wasn't going to work for whatever reason, and he's now back at USC. Yeah, that really is awful. I've gone to interviews where I was given the chance to phone interview, never really thought I'd accept the position, and proceeded as he did. Face to face shows professional courtesy.

How about you quit worrying about appearances and worry about moving on and winning games, or else watch a fashion show. The current coaching staff, AD, etc are not pouting in a corner complaining about their feelings getting hurt, so why are you?

By the way, this is MY alma mater as well, and I'm not even a fraction of the butt hurt you are.

I would like to apologize to you in advance for this, but I agree with you 100%. There is nothing to be butthurt about here. He was extended a job offer. He took a good hard look at the offer, and decided for whatever reason that he should stay where he is.

He has a wife, dont know one single thing about her. What is her profession? Does that play into whether he wants to move across the country or not?

He has players that he has brought into USC. What is his opinion of them?

What is the potential for promotion at both schools? Does he know something about a chance to be OC at USC?

Too many things that play into this that are none of our business. I wish him well. I wish yall well. This is not my university, but it is my kid's university and that matters to me.

Edit: as a LadyVol, the reputation of my kids team is somewhat affected by the reputation of the Football team. In fact, the reputation of the entire school, and the diplomas given out are affected by the reputation of the football team. Im hoping bJones classes the place up a little. I didnt like the show that Dooley was putting on.

Yes, he helped win us a NC championship. I was a huge fan. Thanks for the memories

But noow let's fast forward to today
Blah, blah, blah insane parinoid crap, blah, blah, blah.

Ok, imagine yourself are going back to an institution that you once were a part of and which you really enjoyed to consider a paid position. When you get there you find out you be doing the same job as your current postion and you will get a pay cut. You really enjoy your visit but decide not to take the job.
Next thing you know all the inmates of the insane asylum are screeaming and calling you a traitor because you didn't take the job. If you think the inamates are justified you need to go back to the home as an inmate.

I will agree when you agree to not complain about recruiting classes and us not getting 5*. Cause if you are complacent about this you should be just as complacent about recruiting 2's and 3's. When you wake up and understand that the 24/7 world is built on perception because reality never has a chance to sink in, you will understand what I am talking about. Until then, I guess you can eat a crap sandwich and like it. There were ways to handle this interview properly and there were ways to handle this interview to make the biggest splash and get the biggest raise. I don't mind he stayed, I just don't like how it was handled.

Really? You know this?

Really? You know this?

You may not talk to me. You not only have those lacrux thingies in your avi but you have a Crimson Turd thingy next to the Power T over there as well. You probably drive a Prius and use the middle urinal as well.

Tee wants to be a head coach, soon. He can do that faster coming out of a high profile program like usc than buried on the staff with a new coach at UT.

Very fair question....

seriously doubt money wasn't discussed before flying out here though.

Offer sheet was probably already known.

Yes it is a fair question.
You seriously doubt money wasn't discussed before Tee flew to Tennessee. Which brings us to what we can be 100% sure. YOU may doubt but you don't know a darn thing. But you do feel free to act high and mighty to judge a man on something based on pure speculation. And that tells us a heck of a lot about what kind of person you are.

In the meantime, the bickering between the athletic and academic departments about money suggests that the UT doesn't have a lot to snag quality assistants. Looks like out football program may become defunct unless it produces some serious revenue and fast. Maybe Tee had an inkling of being in position of returning to the UT and being told, "So sorry, son, we can't afford to pay you anymore."

If he knew for certain (which you can't prove, only speculate, but his actions seem to point against you) that he wasn't coming, then an immediate no over the phone would've been the right thing to do. If there was ANY chance of him coming, his coming out this way was the right thing to do. Forgive me for not castrating a guy for doing what he determined was the best thing for him and his family. And you can continue acting like an immature POS with what you've said, along with what you probably say about recruits that decide to not come here.

If people keep talking this crap he may never want to come back! And I do think he will take his place here one day!!

Jesus Christ, just when you think this can't get any dumber, NEOCON starts a thread and pushes the bar 20 feet further into the ground.

Yeah, that seems to be the common trend between weak posters that can't stand the heat of opposing point of views.

Exchange generally goes something like this:
Open minded non-conformist poster- I disagree because a,b, and, c(legit argument with legit reasoning)
Weak minded poster-I don't agree with you and I don't have a legitimate argument as to why and I'm to insecure to be wrong about something so I will IGNORE you.

What's worse are these types of posters will rally together and celebrate as if they actually accomplished something on the message board other than looking as weak and pathetic that a man could ever hope to look.

That being said, Tee played us in front of a national audience and needs to stay away from the University from this point forward. In my eyes, he's not welcomed here anymore.(Meaning in a coaching capacity).

NEO once referred to marines as

"Bullet Sponges"

While that is way over the top for whatever was being discussed at that time, I think he has a legitimate argument on this one. Everyone talks about 'Tee don't owe us ****' but in turn we don't owe Tee **** at this point either. He had his shot to come here. If we ever get this university turned around, I don't want to see him trying to gravy train off of it when it benefits him.

Another popular comment tends to be the 'he gave us all for us' as opposed to what? He got a full ride college scholarship to play for a then white hot university in the 90s to showcase his abilities and make some scratch on the next level. What was he did that was so above and beyond heroic during his time here?

I'm not saying he's a bad guy, but the Tee worship is way over the top. Just like he made a business decision, a business decision should be made to keep him coming back to UT seeing as though it would show weakness and desperation on our part.
