How is a tennis NCAA contest scored? How many matches are there? Singles + doubles?

3 doubles matches are played to begin. The squad that wins 2 of the 3 earns 1 point. (8 game pro sets)

6 singles matches are played. (2 of 3 sets) Each is worth 1 point.

The match concludes when one team reaches 4 total points.

^^I find that the format used in college tennis makes the doubles point very exciting, especially like yesterday against Georgia.

UT's #3 doubles won the first doubles match yesterday and UT should've won the necessary second match in short order. UT had leads in the other two doubles matches when Georgia stormed back to win #1 doubles and then tie #2 doubles. When #2 doubles went to a tie-breaker, it was anyone's to win.

I hate to imagine how rowdy the UGA fans would've been if they'd have won that doubles point. They were apparently rowdy enough in singles as it was.

I dont know anything about our tennis team other than the fact they are playing USC for the National Championship. How ironic is this? Let this be the first of many wins over So Cal and another NC for the U of T. Congrats and good luck, tennis team, you arent going unnoticed!!!!!

Not sure why it's called a PRO set, but in doubles they play one set only instead of best two out of three sets as in singles.

However, that one set in doubles is a super set as you need to win 8 games instead of 6 to win the set. Gotta win by two games or at 8-8 play customary tie breaker.
