Terrance Coleman DT

He missed on Alex Bullard, Alex Hurst, Barratt Jones, David Spurlock. All starters at other programs except Bullard... OUCH

His one "good" class only had 1 OL. Should of seen the problem coming you sign over 30 kids and there's only one big ugly.

Exactly. The bottom line is Fulmer recruited awful his last few years and now Tennessee is paying for it. You never go an entire recruiting class and sign 1 offensive lineman, especially when you recruited poorly on the OLine the year before that.

In 06, 07, and 08 Fulmer signed the following OL (according to Rivals):

4*: McClendon (06), Myers (06), Johnson (06), Sawtelle (07), Douglas (08)

3*: Pope (06), Anderson (08), Bailey (08), Thomas (08)

It looks like talent evaluation, attrition, and player development were more of an issue than just pure numbers

Granted...even with those numbers...to only sign one OL in a year that your tearing it up in recruiting definitely stands out

I have been impressed so far with Thomas.... I think the jury continues to be out with Pope.

Fulmer was never a X's and O's man. That is why Cutcliff and his DC's were so invaluable to him. Fulmer was also lousy at "coaching 'em up", and relied on his assistants for that also, but he always kept good assistants on hand. He was average at best as a motivator -- he all too often either had his teams overly excited for a game or they came out flat. Finally, the one thing he learned from Johnny Majors was how to play "johnny ball" -- playing not to lose rather than playing to win and going for the gonads.

Unfortunately, he his conservative bent cost us more than a few ball games we never should have lost.

But on the plus side, Fulmer was a good administrator in the early part of his tenure. He knew his weaknesses and gathered good assistants around him to manage the X's and O's, to "coach 'em up", and to coordinate the various parts of the game.

Fulmer not only brought in good assistants -- his biggest asset was his ability to recruit. For many years, he bought in some really stud classes, and he was literally the best in the business sitting in the recruit's living room talking with momma and poppa.

It was a winning combination and Fulmer won big for UT.

He started slipping when he began retaining mediocre and unmotivated assistants, and as a result no one was getting coached up. It showed on the field, and that killed his ability to recruit. His teams lost discipline, and it showed both on and off the field.

So now we have Dooley. I hope he will be as good in the living room with momma and poppa as Fulmer was, and I have a hunch he will be.

I would never go a year where you sign less than 3 offensive lineman. Too many starting positions and too much can happen to where you lose guys from general attrition, thus the reason Tennessee is in the shape it is right now.

1 guy in an entire class, at a position where 5 guys start at a time...Just doesn't make any sense.

Bottom line is the upperclassmen right now are obviously awful based on how many true and redshirt freshman have been playing and starting.

the one Gordon got torched on or the one Anderson got torched on haha?

The one where Waggner was in center field but bit down on the left side receiver instead of continuing to play center field, leaving Anthony Anderson(who is horrid) in one on one and he tries to pick the ball but whiffs and gives up a touchdown.

What is this Waggner's 7th start.... Give him a break..... No pass rush at all. Eric Berry would have been torched as well. I don't care if it was UAB, give any QB all day to throw and they will find someone.

Right now IMO Waggner has been playing better than Janzen. I like Waggner, he has a knack for the ball.

He didn't get torched, he blew his assignment. Anderson was the one that got torched

He also cost us a touchdown on that first bomb UAB threw.

Um... Actually that would have been Anthony Anderson's inability to actually nut up and make a play on the ball. It would have taken a great play, but that ball could have and should have been intercepted. But then again Anderson is not a great player. Great players make plays.

Anderson wasn't meant to be in single coverage on that play, which is probably why he let the receiver behind him. Now, that said, Anderson made a piss poor attempt on the ball.

You don't really know what Waggner's assignment was on that play. Anyways, cover one still means man to man coverage up front.

List Tennessee, Kentucky, and Southern Miss as medium interest with no High interest schools listed. We have offered and it was between us and Auburn on NSD. Was in attendance for UK and AUB.

Terrance is drama queen without the talent to back it up. No way his offer is currently committable.
