Texas A & M Band

yes its a tradition, but its only done once or twice a year...

but the only part that is the tradition, is the crossover...the stuff before and after is different so they have not practiced this exact drill.

Thanks, didn't know they don't play it all the time. What I've seen of the Aggie band over the years, I have enjoyed watching them and they have my respect.

not a problem....most people dont realize that they do a different drill every week. most people, outside of aggies, dont get to see the crossover either, because its usually one game a year, possibly two if we go to a bowl...which has not happened recently unfortunately.

but, i'm keeping optimistic that it will happen more often (with wins preferably) in the future :)

I was personally impressed with the Aggie band. The crossover was really cool. The longhorn band I think tried something similar during their halftime, although the Aggies do it much better.

yeah, I saw the horn band today....

a bunch of us really laughed about it bc the horns make fun of our military drills all the time, yet thats pretty much what they marched today....

what's that they say...mimicing someone is the highest form of flatery :)

Yes it is. They can mock it all they want to, I thought it was awesome. Texas is about to line up for the gw field goal. I personally don't care how it goes, but I hope he misses for all of my Aggie friends.

Yeah, I've gotten called for that many many many times on here and I DO have good reason for doing this...

Texas - I was born in Dallas and we always watched the Longhorns on saturdays when I was little

Oregon State - Where I currently live, I took a liking to rooting for them because they were the underdog and never really left them, also why I root Pac-10

Purdue - My sister is a Purdue alum

Ohio State - My mom is an Ohio State alum

Tennessee - Started watching this year after Ainge went there, he was a classmate of mine. Watching the Vols play is just really fun, and Tennessee has absolutely one of the greatest programs in the history of the game. I have enjoyed my time on this board learning about Tennessee football, past teams, Neyland, I've memorized Rocky Top... It's just good. And even though my ties to the school are seemingly the loosest of any, don't think that means I like them the least of all these. I hope the Vols win ANY game they play in.

So when are you going to come to a game at good ole Rocky Top Milo? Have you already?

Other than wanting to see Texas at Ohio State in the Horseshoe next year, Seeing any game in Neyland tops my list of college games to see. Unfortunately, the majority of the college football season is right in the way of school.

But if I had the opportunity, I would in a heartbeat. Or maybe if the Volunteers decide to schedule a game in the Pac-10. Come on down to Autzen, I'll show up in orange. Promise. :D

An away game wouldn't be the same. One of these days you need to make the trek cross country and experience Neyland Stadium. It is a beautiful thing.

I'll give you that. Nazi references are not exactly the best direction to go in search of comedy.

Before I post what I wanted to, let me make a comment about what I saw of the Aggie band.

Thier music was depressing as hell. Nothing "fun" or enjoyable about the music they played. But that cross thing they did was way cool.

NOW, about the above quote. Lets not get too PC here. Saying what their uniforms were like has nothing to do with what their POLITICIAL IDEAOLOGY is.

He didnt say the members of the band were NAZIS. He said the uniforms look like NAZI.

If you find that offensive, then you probably wont like me at all because I am the least politically correct person you will ever meet.

they play military type music....if they played jazzier or more upbeat music, then they would not be a military band.

as for the nazi reference if the post would've said their uniforms looked like nazi's, then i would have had to post pictures of nazi uniforms and the aggie band uniforms, sorry, but other then both being military uniforms they do not look alike.

as for the PC stuff....i guarantee most of the PC stuff annoys the crud outta me, i am probably one of the least PC people i know...maybe its just a southern thing ;)

I enjoyed A&M's band for the simple fact that it is not something I get to see much. We don't have many military bands at our halftimes. I thought that the formations were tight and the band sounded pretty good to me. Like I said before, you want to see a silly looking band uniform, go not further than Texas and those silly looking hats.

Who cares about the dang bands anyway?? I say let the scout teams play each other at halftime while the others are resting and making adjustments. If I wanna see a band I'll go to a parade.

Barring I go to college outside of the west coast (highly unlikely) I WILL go to that game. I think 2007 will be a great year. :good:

LIO, hmmmmm...i like that idea, someone needs to make it happen :)

I have often wished that college football had a preseason like the NFL, only using scout teams and backups. At least it would be SOMETHING to watch from June to September.
