To start off the last 3 years 6-0, 5-0 and 5-0. Just to finish 8-5 each time. Sumlin wont finish the season imho.

That should cost Sumlin his job! HE lost that game. With all the things going bad, all he had to do was run the ball 3 times and punt and UCLA would have had less than a minute to go 65 yards. Bad coaching!

Look at the last 3 drives. How many incomplete passes did they have in there? And their run game was unstoppable. If ATM had simply stayed with the run in the 4th quarter they run out the clock.

about aTm Sumlin, but have heared nothing about DC John Chavis. It was his defense that let down in 4th quarter. Guess he went to his 3rd and long defense.:cray:

They needed to run the clock out but the offense was throwing on 1st and 2cd down with a QB that couldn't throw.

Sumlins seat as of now.

KS is ok for now until they come up with the 10 or 11 million for his buyout. Chavis could be a dead man walking through.

I've heard the Texas A&M Board of Regents are wanting something done, and done now. And they usually get what they want.

With the profit from the recent gas price increases alone A&M donors can afford the buyouts.

I know he's a VFL and has a great reputation, but I've never, ever, thought Chavis was a great defensive coordinator.

Found this over at SEC Rant.

SEC Rant said:
A&M gave up 35 points in roughly 1 quarter of play.

35 points a quarter is equivalent to a pace of 140 for the game.

A&M's famous 77-0 loss to Oklahoma works out to be 19.5 points a quarter.

In other words A&M's defense in that 77-0 loss played about twice as good as A&M's defense did the final quarter last night.

And a slam against UF.

SEC Rant said:
UCLA scored almost twelve times the number of points in a quarter that UF's offense did for an entire game.

Which has been the norm for the Gators since Tebow.

And found this amusing.

I understand losing your QB1 and the offense going stale, but how does A&M's D allow 35 points in a row...Jesus. They just made Josh Rosen a Heisman contender.

*edit - 2nd largest lead ever, by 1 point

John "3rd and Long" Chavis is how you allow 35 straight points like that. Probably not a popular thing to say, but it's true.

Just one of the many regents but he's really being vocal.

He's great when he has to be. Once his team has a sizeable lead Chief should abdicate his position to another and begin prep for next week. He's a great pitcher but he is not a closer.

They stopped rushing the QB which was what got the kid rattled in the first half. I never understood getting the lead and playing not to lose. Keep doing what got ya the lead.

Classic John Chavis. Perhaps the most overrated defensive coordinator in college football history.

I remember saying out here years ago that Chavis would probably not have success there, its not him... its the offense. If all you have to practice against is that offense, you are not going to be prepared for much. The defense is bad because they practice against a flag football team offense. You can apply this to wherever Chip Kelly coaches as well. Sumlin wants to play flag football.

Sumlin pursuing Chavis..

"I don't think their problems will disappear, but we shall see. If I practice flag football during the Spring and Fall, and then during the week... exactly what are the chances of playing tough when the I go and play real football? My guess, not good."
