Texas A&M coming to the SEC????

The most shocking thing about this is that the Governor of Texas is a cheerleader. How the f did that happen?

George Bush was a cheerleader in college wasn't he?

Bush and Perry were both cheerleaders...

Will Ferrell for TX Governor 2012?

Five with Baylor? There are only four Texas programs

I wasn't sure if the legislature just applied to the public Texas university programs or to all the (what became the big XII) colleges in Texas....to be fair, I'm not sure anyone's ever posted the full details of it here either

So what are your thoughts on a 14th Milo?

Rest assured, the folks in Waco are in cardiac arrest right now.

Well clearly; the jayhawks are as well

I'm just trying to figure out how aTm's ability to schedule OOC games would end up. They're going to have to play 8 or even 9 conference games with an SEC membership. And if a set number of those OOC games are required by law to be against X-number of Texas schools....

Rick Perry has met with Dr. Loftin, the two of them have discussed the issue and Mike Slive has open arms. All three of which are in Birmingham.

That Slive has three arms? That should make him pretty efficient with handouts and help him fit in well down there in the Great State of Alabama.

I love the idea of adding aTm. I think they would be a great fit, culturally, athletically, and academically. My biggest problem is evening it by bring someone with them.

IMO, Mizzou doesn't work at all, Oklahoma doesn't fit culturally, and none of the other Texas schools really fit. I don't see any of the ACC teams bolting on their own unless there is a huge pay increase.

SMU could be interesting. A very good private school to go along with Vandy, and in a major market like Dallas is interesting to say the least.

So who do you think comes with A&M to the SEC?

If we were to bring another private school on board with aTm, I'd say Baylor instead of SMU. Baylor at least brings competitive teams in other sports and is improving considerably in football.

Baylor?...SMU?....Damn come on guys...Texas A&M vs SMU or Baylor on SEC saturday night on ESPN will really rake in the ratings...cough cough...Oklahoma is a much better fit and almost every game they play against top SEC schools will be major ratings and sell outs at every stadium...As well as at thiers when We and the rest of the SEC go to visit.

Smu brings nothing money or new market wise, the two things these expansion moves are/have been based on

Oklahoma won't likely be able to leave without bringing OK State with them. Plus, why would we want to add more "super-power" teams to the conference? That would make it near impossible for an SEC team to go undefeated and play in the BCS NCG.

We need teams that improve TV market ratings, but don't increase the competition level to an outrageous degree. Some people want OU, Miami, FSU, and other such teams in the SEC. Ridiculous. Bring in new market teams, but not teams that will make the NC unwinnable.

North Carolina, Clemson, Missouri, Texas A&M, Baylor, NC State, and such are the kinda teams we need to add. Oklahoma and A&M by themselves wouldn't be too bad, but Oklahoma + other super-powers will spell doom for SEC BCS dominance. NO ONE will escape the SEC schedule without one or maybe two losses almost every year.

i doubt GTech would get invited, they already left the SEC once didnt they? My guess would be either WVU or Clemson. I would love to have FSU in there also, but like you said, i dont think UF would like that

Florida won't let in FSU. So... Ga Tech?

Ga tech stormed out (quite angrily) and not much seems to have changed with their view on the conference (and they like the way it looks for their school to be an ACC member)

That and UGA would quite likely raise the same kind of hell over it as UF about FSU

Yes, they left once on their own.

Clemson I have no clues on. I don't think wvu really cares to leave the big east

Do not want unless they bring one or more big fish with them (e.g., OU and/or a big North Carolina school).

OU = yes
OSU = meh (only as a package with OU)
Missouri = meh
FSU = no
Miami = meh
GA Tech = no
Clemson = no
VA Tech = meh
WVU = meh
UNC = yes
NC State = yes

No one from Carolina will be leaving until that conference itself falls apart
