Texas A&M coming to the SEC????

A&M fans are the most delusional fans in the nation by a wide margin.

With all due respect, that just isn't true. That said, I believe you'll come to see Aggies are passionate about our team, but also realistic.

True, we haven't set the athletic world on fire, nor do we have the National Championship tradition that UT has in football or women's basketball. The potential was always there, but inept management running the A&M athletic department kept us from reaching that higher ground.

That all changed a few years ago when under the tenure of then A&M President Robert Gates (who just retired as the Sect. of Defense), Bill Byrne left Nebraska and became the Athletic Director. In the eight years as A.D., Byrne has quietly molded A&M Athletics into a competitive force. Slowly but surely, the success Byrne achieved at Nebraska (8 National Championships in various sports), is happening in College Station...the most recent being the Lady Aggies title in Women's Basketball.

I'll miss our Big 12 Rivalries, just as I miss the days we used to play TCU and Houston in the old SWC. But the thought of seeing A&M at Neyland, or watching the Aggie Women playing a Pat Summit team far exceeds any memory from the past.

A&M's inclusion in the SEC is really going to be special. In time, I'm confident we'll earn the respect of rival SEC schools.

I guess if they add one more team like fsu then am to the west obviously and the other team to the east. I wonder if that cuts down how many west teams we would play each year

College Station will be a great place to add to the SEC. Looking forward to them coming, if the SEC can find another team to come with them. It wont happen if they dont

That's the thing, other conferences are adding because...well, their conferences suck as a whole. The SEC has the luxury of not having to do that.

That's probably what the big 10 said prior to 92. Now look at them.

EDIT: I think I owe you an explanation so you understand my reply.

For almost 20 years the pac 10 and big 10 were stagnant and did nothing to improve their conferences. 'They kept thinking, like A LOT on this board, we don't need to change we are the _____, who needs a championship game, we have tradition that will overcome this fad. We are better than those inbred rednecks in the SEC.' Well what happened? SEC modernized and left all others in the dust. So complain all you want, the SEC office knows what they are doing. They brought us this far, I may not like them all the time from a UT perspective, but for the SEC as a whole they are fair and look out for our best interest, and this is in our best interest. Think of minor league NFL, then maybe you will understand.

I personally don't like it that much and I think the "advantages" are being far overblown, but mostly I wish all this talk would hurry up and end one way or the other. If they're coming, hurry up and do it.

Just got an ESPN alert that Mizzou, Clemson, and FSU are likely joining as well.
